The internet was ablaze (as usual) with all things YA last week, when four highly anticipated film adaptations released longer trailers and a bit more about their respective cinematic universes. Three of them are adapted from celebrated YA novels with dedicated followings, and one draws from slightly older material…but still pretty popular. And then just recently, ANOTHER teaser trailer hit the bandwidths, also an adaptation (this one a reboot of something you definitely will remember). Take a peak at the trailers below, and then take the poll: which are you most excited for?
The Maze Runner Dripping in mystery and suspense, the most recent YA trailer hit just last week, promising a story somewhere in between The Hunger Games, Lost and a tamer version of cult classic Cube. Starring Stiles of Teen Wolf fame Dylan O’Brien, how excited are you to see him in a new light? |
The Fault in Our Stars In what might by the YA tearjerker of the century, Shailene Woodley will reteam here with Ansel Elgort, who currently plays her brother in Divergent. In FIOS, however, they will play cancer-stricken lovers in the adaptation of John Green’s novel. Shailene has already proven herself many times over as a capable, mature actress. Get your tissues out, guys… |
The Giver Adapted from the oldest (and arguably the most classic) YA novel on this list, The Giver stars some amazing names—like an actress by the name of Meryl Streep—and promises to be an intellectual take on the concept of dystopia. The new trailer, unveiled recently, has everyone talking. What do you think? |
Maleficent
Disney has been keeping us chomping at the bit with teeny peaks and shreds of information on this highly anticipated Angelina Jolie starrer, which does a sort of Wicked spin on the Sleeping Beauty fairytale. The most recent trailer may have fallen into the usual trap of showing us too much – are you still excited? |
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Yup…they’re back!! The Cowabunga boys from the late 80s/early 90s return in yet another iteration, this one starring Megan Fox as April O’Neil, doing her best to look startled and bewildered by these CG amphibians as they blow through their first teaser trailer. In our humble opinion, this one looks like the toughest sell… |
