Diplo feat. Nicky B. – Express Yourself // Teen Wolf, Season 4 Episode 5

This pumping track is playing on the lacrosse field as Keira scores her first goal, albeit selfishly. It couldn’t be more perfect for the aggressive vibe of the scene. Los Angeles based musician Diplo is a huge presence on the EDM scene these days, as well as being half of dancehall act Major Lazer. He’s worked with many of the greats including Beyonce, Justin Bieber and Usher, but it’s heartening to know he’s still a dork deep down – ‘Diplo’ is short for ‘Diplodocus’.

Love Hurt Bleed – Gary Numan // Teen Wolf, Season 4 Episode 5

This is a super dark track from Gary Numan that can be heard during the scene whilst Violet and Garrett arrive at school. Mr. Numan has perfected rock music which still manages to have an electronic sounding edge to it, a perfect example of which is his 1979 hit, Cars. It’s no surprise that Trent Reznor (formerly of Nine Inch Nails) and Gary apparently have a long awaited collaboration in the works and Basement Jaxx sampled him in their 2002 smash ‘Where’s Your Head At’. Check out the song below!

Here We Go Again – Johnny Stimson // Chasing Life, Season 1 Episode 7

This song is playing in the background when Leo tells April that Dominic got the job offer, and it fits the upbeat mood of the scene. It’s catchy as hell, and features a jaunty organ hook with just a touch of Daft Punk style funk. Johnny Stimson is a Dallas native with an improbably soaring voice. He released his first music in 2010 and judging by the songs in his repertoire (take a listen to Sugar or So. Good.) he’s got a bright future ahead of him.

Young Rival – Black Popcorn // Degrassi Season 13 Episode 38

Zoe and Tristan watch the television piece featuring her in the school auditorium whilst this track by Canadian rock n rollers Young Rival belts out in the background. They formed under the name The Ride Theory in the early 2000’s and released two studio albums under that name before reforming as Young Rival in 2007, and they’ve since released two more studio albums. Take a listen to their track below:

Bear Driver – No Time to Speak // Pretty Little Liars, Season 5 Episode 7

Hannah and Sydney discuss the recent fire whilst this song plays. Bear Driver are a six piece from Leeds, UK who have been making sweet sweet folk-pop since 2010. Their self titled debut album was released in 2012, and No Time to Speak was also included in the feature film Stuck in Love starring Greg Kinnear. Check out the track here:
