Catch it here first! We are on the lookout for the freshest, hottest and coolest YA trailers as they come out, based on your fave Young Adult series and beyond. We’ve laid it all out for your enjoyment. Watch this space and enjoy, coming soon to a theater near you!
SEVENTH SON
Summed up as: Equal parts Lord of the Rings, Hercules, The Giver and any other fantasy yarn. In other words, pretty derivative fare about a young man destined for greatness and a fight against evil, etc and so forth.
Coolest thing about the trailer: Djimon Honsou’s remarkable transformation at the end.
Don’t miss: YA hunks Kit Harrington (Game of Thrones) and Ben Barnes (aka Prince Caspian in the Chronicles of Narnia), who are both in this movie.
Worth seeing opening weekend? This one honestly looks pretty missable. Even with Julianne Moore as an evil witch-queen lady.
THE FLASH
Summed up as: The second trailer for the new Arrow spinoff series that we, like, cannot wait for.
Coolest thing about the trailer: The Arrow himself, Stephen Amell‘s plum little cameo.
Don’t miss: The villain who can control the weather (his crime is really that he is copying X-Men’s Storm).
Watch or DVR? Watch!
HORNS
Summed up as: Daniel Radcliffe doing his best American accent as the boyfriend of a girl who is brutally murdered and the inexplicable, titular horns he sprouts the next morning.
Did they show too much? Yes, way too much this time. You’ll see what we mean if you watch.
Don’t miss: “You don’t think I’m capable of murder? Just put me in a room with the guy who really killed her…”
Worth seeing opening weekend? We remain intrigued.
TRASH
Summed up as: About three Brazilian youths who troll the local garbage dump and find something pretty huge. Rooney Mara is dispatched to tell their story.
Did they show too much? No, and the documentary feel makes this film look pretty authentic.
Worth seeing opening weekend? We love Rooney Mara, so why not.
SON OF A GUN
Summed up as: A softer, glitzier version of last year’s prison drama Starred Up. This one with Ewan McGregor (at his grittiest) and YA hunk-on-the-rise Brenton Thwaites as master thief and his protégé, respectively.
Coolest thing in the trailer: The chimpanzee mask.
Don’t miss: The gorgeous Alicia Vikander, also in Seventh Son (above).
Worth seeing opening weekend? Not really our cup of tea…
VAMPIRE DIARIES SEASON 6
Summed up as: It’s baaaack….Vampire Diaries returns for more sexy YA bloodsucking.
Coolest thing about the trailer: Elena biting back…literally.
Don’t miss: “Do you know Elena has some sort of witchy drug problem that allows her to hallucinate Damon?”
Watch or DVR? DVR, watch, blog, repeat.
AMITYVILLE: THE AWAKENING
Summed up as: For real, why would anyone move into a house in Amityville at this point anyway??
Scariest thing in the trailer: Everything having to do with the bedridden son, played by Cameron Mognahan. Creepy central!
Don’t miss: Bella Thorne, who is serving up classic teen angst as the (convincing) daughter of Jennifer Jason Leigh.
Worth seeing opening weekend? This looks pretty friggin’ scary, so only if you can handle it.
SHAUN THE SHEEP
Summed up as: From the world of Wallace & Grommit and Chicken Run, a new fish-out-of-water (or rather, sheep-out-of-pasture) tale.
Funniest thing in the trailer: Definitely the porcupine at the end!
Don’t miss: The weird cat in the pet shop window isn’t bad either.
Worth seeing opening weekend? Meh!
