It has become not only the custom, but the rule. Dating all the way back to Twilight, Harry Potter and the like, the final chapter of practically every YA book series turned film franchise (at least those that have made it that far) has been extended, prolonged, and cut into two…and it will be happening again, of course, in The Hunger Games as well as the Divergent series. Will it be the same for The Maze Runner, The Fifth Wave and other film series in the works? What do we think about this tactic on the part of the filmmakers to get as much buck for their bang? Let us know what you think below!

Do you like the final chapter of your YA series in two parts? Yay or Nay?

YAY!

The more time spent in the story’s universe, the better! Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part I was uttered to be a little slow by some, but the sum total of Parts 7 & 8 make for an incredibly strong—and dark—ending to the magical series. Getting a deeper peek into the filmmakers’ take on our favorite series is always a treat, so the more films, the more we’ll watch. Bring it on!

NAY!

This was totally unnecessary in Twilight’s case, and some would say the same for Harry Potter as well as the interminable Hobbit films (the third of which, all drawn from the same book, comes out this Christmas). It’s blatantly obvious that Hollywood is making this move over and over again simply to make more money, and not for any (even vague) artistic purpose. So we say NO to Part II’s!
