*WARNING: This interview contains spoilers from Ginny & Georgia season 3.*
Season 3 of Ginny & Georgia is the most dramatic and explosive season yet, picking up after Georgia’s arrest for murder during her wedding. The season explores the fallout, with Georgia on trial and Ginny and Austin considering the possibility their mom might go to prison.
Sarah Lampert has an inspiring journey, with her first ever show pitch being Ginny & Georgia for Netflix! Sarah took an untraditional route in the entertainment world, first getting her start working in reality TV and as an assistant in development.
Sarah: “I wrote Ginny & Georgia as a pilot and gave it to my boss and he believed in me and believed in it.”
While it is all about the right product and the right timing, Sarah took us through her “I made it” moment of getting a call from Netflix that Ginny & Georgia was picked up for 10 episodes!
Sarah: “My first time ever being in a writers room and being on set was for Ginny & Georgia.”
Sarah’s happy place is the writers room and she said it is such a collaborative space, with everyone coming in with different experiences and personal stories to bring these characters to life. They chat about which characters they want to see do a scene together, where the arcs will go, and Sarah even teased something completely new they are planning for season 4, and we simply cannot wait.
“The writers room is my favorite place in the world, it is my happy place.”
We chatted all about the wild and emotional ride that was season 3 of Ginny & Georgia, and Sarah revealed her favorite scene from the season was Maxine’s voiceover and inner monologue to start off episode 9. Maxine is the character Sarah most based herself off of, and as Maxine stans, we were both heartbroken but also loved to see those real struggles this season.
Sarah told us she often gets lots of feedback from actors, and revealed Felix Mallard, who plays Marcus, had a lot of conversations around his breakdown in episode 10, and Scott Porter, who plays Paul, had a lot of ideas when it came to that tense scene in the kitchen with Georgia in episode 8.
Sarah also spilled on whether she ever considered making Georgia guilty, and the best BTS story of turning a place in downtown Toronto into a science center for Ginny and Wolf’s date. Sarah said she cannot wait for fans to see their favorite characters continue to grow.
“What the fans really love about the show is just the characters. The actors bring so much to the characters.”
