Is The Big Leap Cancelled? Season 2 Coming Soon…

The Big Leap aired on FOX and was just starting to gain some steam after Season 1. It was beginning to build a loyal fan base but now people are asking, is The Big Leap cancelled? It has only run for one season and we all want to know if it’s returning for Season 2. The show followed contestants on the titular reality series who were attempting to put together a production of Swan Lake for television, featuring a show within a show. Nick Smart (Foley) made his return to TV as the show’s conniving producer. His bad qualities were offset by the sincerity of contestants such as single mother Gabby (Recasner) and former NFL player Malik (Terrell Carter). The show received a rare 100% rating among critics on Rotten Tomatoes, so is it possible that The Big Leap is cancelled?

Is The Big Leap cancelled?

The short answer is: yes, The Big Leap has been cancelled and will not be renewed for Season 2.

After one season, Fox’s Dance dramedy starring Scott Foley and Simone Recas on has been cancelled. Network executives were enthusiastic about the series’ energy and aspirational narrative, but it did not draw in viewers. The 11-episode run of The Big Leap concluded in December, averaging a 0.4 rating among the 18-49 demographic and 1.6+ million total viewers.

At this time it’s unclear if the show will get picked up by another network or streaming service. We do believe that there are some fans that are questioning the network’s decision to cancel the show. The Big Leap followed a group of diverse strangers who enroll in a dance competition show that is set in a glamorous resort in Palm Springs. The series was praised for its representation of LGBTQIA+ and BIPOC characters, but it struggled to find an audience.

Gabby Recasner’s Comments

Recasner told other publications how meaningful it was to her to create the show. “It is more than I can say,” she said. We can tell the show meant a lot to her so it’s sad to see it leave so soon. We are sure it was a shock to find out that The Big Leap was cancelled. We hope she puts her talents into something else that brings her success.

The Big Leap Is Cancelled But Were Other Shows Cancelled Too?

The Big Leap is just one of several shows that have been cancelled by Fox in recent weeks. The network also said goodbye to Prodigal Son, Absentia, Our Kind of People, and Pivotal. At least some of these other shows that were cancelled lasted longer than one season. It is unclear if any of the shows will be shopped to other networks or streaming services.

We Are Sad But The Big Leap Is Cancelled

The conclude, the series received positive reviews from fans, but it failed to attract a large audience. The first season wrapped up on December 6th and we are sad to see it go. Unfortunately, after airing for one season, Fox decided to cancel The Big Leap. Many fans were disappointed by the cancellation, but there is still hope that the show may be picked up by another network. Only time will tell if The Big Leap will make a comeback. Until then we can all cross our fingers and hope it gets picked up by another networked or streaming service.
