Casting Call

It would seem that casting news for Young Adult Hollywood revolves around just a few hot and very in-demand names, and what a busy bunch they are! But because things change in showbiz faster than you can say ‘Holy sequel, Batman!’, the names on that list are changing all the time. So to that end, we here at YA Mag will undertake the hefty task of keeping you up to date each month on who’s playing what, who’s not, and who should. The roles and stars everyone can’t stop talking about are all here…

Let’s get things started with some news revolving around one of Hollywood’s favorite wares to peddle: the sequel.

Perhaps the most anticipated one of all is GHOSTBUSTERS III, which has been in the rumor mill for literally decades. However, renewed interest and activity in the project has led to offers being sent out to Emma Stone and Jonah Hill for roles in this third installment, slated to be directed again by Ivan Reitman. Details are being kept under wraps, but we do know the film will follow the original gang of “Ghostbusters” as they train a fresh batch of Columbia physics students to hunt ghosts. If Hill and Stone accept the offers, they would play Columbia students Jeremy and Anna respectively. The question is, will we get to meet a grown-up version of Oscar Barrett, son to Sigourney Weaver’s Dana?

Left to Right: Emma Stone and Jonah Hill offered roles in upcoming ‘Ghostbusters 3’.

Skyler Gisondo of Psych and the first Amazing Spider-Man will play son to Ben Stiller in NIGHT AT THE MUSEUM 3, which will be set in a London museum.

Williams.

Percy Harrison Fawcett who went on many Amazon expeditions with the hope of discovering a mysterious lost civilization. In 1925 he ventured into the jungle with his son one final time, a trip from which neither returned. Brad Pitt (who was previously attached to star) will be producing.

C.J. Valleroy has landed a small role in the film, as a younger version of Zamperini. Valleroy is best known for his role as Max in the episode “Along Came a Spider” of Nickelodeon’s Deadtime Stories.

Nicholas Hoult of Warm Bodies fame has taken over Zac Efron’s role in the upcoming thriller AUTOBAHN. The actioner follows an American backpacker and his girlfriend, who flee German drug smugglers on the famous high-speed freeway. Shooting slated to begin in spring of 2014.

The story follows Tom, who wakes up from a coma to discover that fragments of his smartphone have been embedded into his head, and worse, that returning to normal teenage life is impossible because he has developed a strange set of superpowers. And you thought you were addicted to your iPhone…

Asa Butterfield is in talks to join Clive Owen in THE KING OF THE KASTLE. Owen plays a middle-aged boat salesman who is blackmailed by a teenager who has evidence of his extramarital affair.
