Every Year After’s Juliette Hawk and Bleu Clarke Facetime Us to Talk Playing Young Percy and Sam

Young Entertainment is back with an exclusive interview with actors Juliette Hawk and Blue Clarke, who play a young Percy and young Sam in the drama series Every Year After, based on the hit book, Every Summer After by Carley Fortune. The series is out now on Prime Video.

The show follows Persephone ‘Percy’ Fraser, played by Sadie Soverall, and Sam Florek’s (Matt Cornett) relationship spanning over a decade. When Percy returns to Canada’s Barry Bay after a secret caused her to cut all ties with the town, she is faced with her first love, Sam, and his older brother, Charlie.

Blue: “It was the best set I’ve ever been on, everyone was so nice.”

Fans of the book series quickly flocked to watching the show, and Juliette says it’s been so cool getting DMs from fans and seeing how many people have supported the show. Blue said everyone on the cast and crew was so much fun to be around so it was so great to see all their hard work come to life.

Juliette: “It’s so crazy and cool to see how many people love the show.”

As for the audition process, both Juliette and Blue had wildly different experiences. Juliette did the typical self tape, met with showrunner Amy B. Harris, and finally did a chemistry read. For Blue, he found out he got a callback when he was in the middle of nowhere on a camping trip, and had to quickly change his plans and come back for the role!

The coolest part of being on set was getting to see the older versions of their characters in action. Blue said getting to watch Sadie and Matt tackle their characters and understand their actions and mannerisms helped them to learn a lot about the younger versions.

Blue: “We took a lot from Matt and Sadie just by watching them act.”

The pair filmed a lot of lake scenes on set, and while Juliette is from Canada and used to the cold, she joked the hardest part of filming was acting like the water was warm, when it reality, it was super cold!

As rising young stars, Blue and Juliette provided some great masterclass tips for aspiring actors. Blue said he has found opportunities through following different casting directors on social media, and for Juliette, she has learned that it’s important to not let a “no” get you down- it just means there is a better opportunity out there!

Juliette: “Believe in yourself and keep trying and putting yourself out there.”
