Forget Me

Original author: K. A. Harrington
Forget Me coverSYNOPSIS:
On the three-month anniversary of her boyfriend Flynn’s death, Morgan uploads her only photo of him to FriendShare to get some closure—but she’s shocked when the facial recognition software suggests she tag him as “Evan Murphy.” She’s never heard of Evan, but a quick search tells her that he lives in a nearby town and looks exactly like Flynn. Only this boy is very much alive. Digging through layers of secrets and lies, Morgan is left questioning everything she thought she knew about her boyfriend, her town, and even her parents’ involvement in this massive web of lies.

WHY SHOULD YOU CHECK IT OUT?

In the age of communication and technology, it’s hard for people to disappear without a trace. We love that this story could go in so many directions: mistaken identity, mystery twin, amnesia, huge town-wide and corporate conspiracy! Word on the street is that it’s a quick, fun read–and that’s just we need from Morgan’s story. The cover suggests a bit of a summer ghost story with the faded figure in the background and the boat up front. But the code-like font for the title tosses in a hint of underground hackers. It will be interesting to see which–if any–of these elements make up the meat of the plot. This is author K. A. Harrington’s first novel, but she writes other mysteries and thrillers for middle grade and young adult readers under her real name, Kim Harrington. Her most recent title, THE DEAD AND THE BURIED, was a paranormal ghost story.

EARLY REVIEWS SAY…

The teen’s likable, tenacious character and the story’s Hollywood-like ending keep this debut on the lighter side, making it just right for late-summer beach reading. (Kirkus Reviews)

Harrington’s ability to weave suspenseful yet believable stories full of hidden clues and false leads… goes beyond what most readers will see coming. … [F]ully defined characters and vivid settings set the stage for a riveting read. (Publishers Weekly)
