The highly anticipated prequel series to Legally Blonde is finally here. Elle is available to stream now on Prime Video. We exclusively Facetimed with actress Danielle Chand, who stars as Shannon, to learn more about her wild audition process, working on a nostalgic project, and the most memorable moments.
Elle follows Elle Woods’ teenage years in the 1990s as a high school student in Seattle, exploring the experiences that mold her into the iconic and confident character in Legally Blonde. Reese Witherspoon, the original Elle Woods, served as an executive producer on the series.
Danielle’s character Shannon is a popular, fashion-loving high school senior and girlfriend of Miles, who catches the romantic interest of Elle, played by Lexi Minetree.
“I loved Legally Blonde before booking the series.”
This was Danielle’s first major acting role and she said as soon as she booked an audition, she rewatched Legally Blonde from a studying perspective to really dive deep into the characters.
Danielle was even working at a restaurant when she got the callback call and had to quickly leave her shift. And when she got that surreal call that she booked the role, she was surrounded by friends in her acting class. Talk about a special moment!
“When I told everyone, I was surrounded by a bunch of actors and we had a big group hug.”
She said she learned so much as an actor through this project and it was the perfect role to jumpstart her rising career.
“This was a really great first experience.”
Lexi Minetree had big shoes to fill in her leading role, but Danielle said she was so supportive and present on set, taking the time to bond with the entire cast and crew.
“Lexi was really supportive every step of the way.”
Danielle also teases potential storylines she’d love to see in season 2, and whether she is Team Miles or Team Dustin. Thanks, Danielle, for Facetiming with Young Entertainment.
