Four songs from four of your top CW shows

Show: Arrow
Episode: “Pilot”
Band / Track: My Goodness – “C’mon Doll”
My Goodness, a great name for a band, sound eerily reminiscent of the Strokes at the dawn of their career. This bluesy, funky rock throwback is welcome and fits in well with the edgy vibe being thrown by Arrow, starring Stephen Amell. My Goodness has a great blustery sound and was named as one of the 6 Bands from the Northwest you need to know by Spin magazine last year. Hopefully this is the first of many songs we hear from them on air. This particular track fits in well with a tense, testosterone filled car ride. All footage from Arrow belongs to the CW.

Show: Gossip Girl
Episode: “Gone Maybe Gone”
Band / Track: The Ting Tings – “Hang It Up”
The Ting Tings are an English musical duo, made up of of Jules De Martino (drums, lead guitar, bass guitar, vocals, piano) and Katie White (vocals, guitar, bass drums, bass guitar, cowbells). They have released four singles on their current label, Columbia Records UK, including the single “That’s Not My Name”, which charted straight at number one on the UK Singles chart. Their first album has now sold over two million copies, with four million singles sold worldwide. Their second studio album, Sounds from Nowheresville, was released in February of 2012 with the lead single “Hang It Up” being released on ahead of the album in January. Gossip Girl is always known for it’s amazing soundtracks and The Ting Tings perfectly capture the fraught love of Blair and Chuck. All footage from Gossip Girl belongs to the CW.

Show: Vampire Diaries
Episode: “Growing Pains”
Band / Track: Amy Stroup – “Wait for the Morning”
Amy Stroup’s haunting voice and wonderful lyricism makes her the perfect backdrop for a Stephen / Elena exchange. Amy has been named one of Prairie Home Companion’s “Top 20 Songwriters Under 30” and won a national Peacemaker Award. The searching quality of Amy’s music can be traced in part to her upbringing. Born the child of religious parents in Boston, she spent much of her girlhood traveling; the searching quality of her music reflects that. Amy’s career has been largely self-fuelled, she recorded and released her first three efforts herself and they started to get recognition in Nashville.  Her music has been featured on shows ranging from Greek to the Vampire Diaries and here’s hoping it’s not the last we hear from her. As with most vampire love, Stephen and Elena have a depth of emotion behind their connection and this song perfectly captures the ethereal nature of the moment (fog, night mist, and epic discussions of eternal life and love). All footage from The Vampire Diaries belongs to the CW.

Show: 90210
Episode: “Til Death Do Us Part”
Band / Track: Carly Rae Jepsen – “This Kiss”
Carly Rae Jepsen perfectly embodies summer pool party fun, the type that can be had in Vegas. Apropos, 90210 enlisted the superstar herself to perform poolside in the 90210 episode “Til Death Do Us Part.” She delivers resplendent with perfect fringe and cute as can dance moves. The lyrics actually seem like they are written for the show. Love all around. All footage from 90210 belongs to the CW.
