Craig Erwich, president of Hulu Originals and ABC Entertainment, released the following statement. “Isaac and Elizabeth have an inspired take on this new version that honors what Carter and Craig created with the original and moves the franchise forward. Isaac and Elizabeth have proven to be rich storytellers. And great partners to us at Hulu Originals and across the Walt Disney Company family. Coupled with the passion and infectious energy Hilary brings to every role she takes on, we can’t wait to suit up and bring audiences How I Met Your Father,”
The show had multiple attempts through the years, with initially having a pilot written by Craig Thomas & Carter Bays along with Emily Spivey. It was shot back in 2014 and starred Great Gerwig and Drew Tarver, but it was not picked up. A few years later Isaac Aptaker and Elizabeth Berger came with a new take on the spinoff. But they became unavailable due to becoming showrunners on the show This Is Us. It was then tried again with You’re the Worst writer Alison Bennett, but was unable to happen.
How I Met Your Mother was such an iconic television show and we are so excited to hear that How I Met Your Father is happening!
