Letter from the Editor

Dear Readers,

This past month both Coming Out Day and Spirit Day were celebrated in the LGBT community. These influential days continue to soar in popularity throughout the world, reaching out to young adults everywhere, helping them cope with the difficulties that come with being different. Young Adult Mag celebrates difference in its own way, by featuring interviews with cast members from both Geography Club and G.B.F. (Gay Best Friend), two upcoming gay-themed YA movies that already have many talking.

It was an exciting experience when I got to speak with the leads of Geography Club, Cameron Deane Stewart and Justin Deeley. They each told me what the experience was like for them, not to mention their sincere and passionate kissing scene.

And there was nothing more brilliant than being able to meet, hug, and sit down with lead actor Michael J. Willett of G.B.F., our top pick for YA films of 2013. Watch the amazing interview here, and look forward to seeing more from this guy (coming soon to MTV).

Check out the rest of the Mag, including our Top 10 list of practically everything from the past year, and spread the word!

Enjoy,

Mordechai

Being the executive editor of Young Adult Magazine I get to decide what goes in and what doesn’t.  It’s been an interesting experience deciding which articles should be placed in each issue, and how to lay them out.  Getting to talk to Disney channel stars about their experiences opened my mind to the different types of experiences you can have, if you allow yourself to have them.  Being a part of something great, following your dream, letting yourself be open to disappointment, and hoping for the best.

This month’s book is The God Box by Alex Sanchez.  It’s about letting yourself be open to new experiences even if that means you might get hurt in the end.
