New Music Friday: April 28th

We don’t know what the weather’s going to be in your area on Friday, but we do know our New Music Friday can bring sunshine and happiness into your life.

For those who don’t know, our New Music Friday focuses on 20 new, little-known songs by lesser-known articles. Each week, our staff compiles a brand-new list for our target audience, particularly music fans.

As a music fan, you can expand your playlist with one or more of our 20 songs, such as “Open The Door” by Carolina Liar. Here are our top 20 songs for the week ending April 28, 2023.

In case you didn’t know, Astronaut is a Danish psych-rock band. They currently reside in Copenhagen, Denmark. They were originally formed at the Royal Danish Academy of Music.

Astronaut has released their new song “Heartless” to the public. “Heartless” features a fluttery future bass with scrumptious synths and a downtempo beat. Does that sound good?

5. “Once Twice Melody” by Beach House

In case you missed it, Beach House is an American musical duo. They were initially formed in Baltimore, Maryland in 2004. 

Beach House has released new music through the years. Their new song “Once Twice Melody” boasts brightening strings and feathery acoustic guitars. How about that?

Haven’t you heard? Carolina Liar is an American-Swedish rock band. Their lead vocalist Chad Wolf is initially from Monks Corner, South Carolina, while their other members are originally from Stockholm, Sweden. 

Carolina Liar’s new song “Open The Door” can resonate with you and your personal life. Some of the lyrics in “Open The Door” are legendary. Take, for example, “I promise it won’t take long. You’ll be singing a different song. Understand you have no way to back out now.”

Frontman Tim Wilson told Nettwerk Music Group: “I decided to double-down on music, but with a much different approach … In the past, the band would sit in the studio for two or three years, banging our heads against the wall until we finished the record, and I knew we’d have to function in a new way if we were going to move forward.”

Ethel Cain, born Hayden Silas Anhedonia, is an American singer-songwriter. She was born in Tallahassee, Florida, and currently lives in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Ethel Cain’s music is eccentric, to say the least. She has been experimenting with writing, recording, and producing her own ethereal style since 2017. She was initially inspired by Christian songs and Gregorian chants. Her new single “famous last words (an ode to eaters)” is a heart-wrenching song, to put it mildly.

King Isis is a newcomer to the Dirty Hit/No Matter record label. She recently released her debut EP, Scales, and a new single “i’m fine, thx 4 asking” which she describes as a “focus track.” Would you also describe “i’m fine, thx 4 asking” as a focus track?

Katherine Li is a Canadian singer-songwriter who’s best known for her single “Never Had a Chance” on Spotify. She’s from Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

The Tubs are a London-based Welsh rock band. They’re not a new band, however. They’ve always been an incendiary noise-pop music act that has splintered into a network of interconnected projects.
