We’re all going a little stir-crazy while we wait for new episodes of Pretty Little Liars, but in the meantime, we thought it would be fun to take a look back at each of our Little Liars’ careers before (and during) PLL.
Unlike her three co-stars, Shay Mitchell has not appeared in many other TV shows and films. In 2009, she made her first appearance was on the popular YA TV series Degrassi: The Next Generation after years of professional modeling. However, it was only an appearance, and Shay did not have any dialogue or a named character. Hey, you gotta start somewhere, and a high profile teen show like Degrassi is a pretty good start!
Also in 2009, Shay appeared in the music video for Sean Paul’s “Hold My Hand,” one of the reggae star’s sweeter songs to date.

After landing her big role as Emily Fields on PLL in 2010, Shay also made some other television appearances. She appeared on 4 episodes of Disney XD’s Aaron Stone as Irina Webber, a cheerleader and brief love interest for Charlie (Kelly Blatz).

This year, Shay appeared alongside PLL cast-mate Troian Bellisario in the short film Immediately Afterlife. The two play the only surviving members of a cult after a mass suicide. The short film is available to stream on YouTube.
Pretty Little Liars returns in December for the holiday themed episode, “How The ‘A’ Stole Christmas,” and more new episodes will resume in January 2015!
