It is no secret that podcasts continue to be a popular form of entertainment nowadays. Here at Young Entertainment Magazine, we have been listening to quite a few exciting new podcasts, focusing on the beloved 90s and early 2000s. For fans of these eras, be sure to read on to find out what we’ve been listening to.
The early 2000s are coming back better than ever. YEM has currently been listening to Welcome To The OC, Bitches!, a podcast with Rachel Bilson and Melinda Clarke, co-stars from the hit series. The O.C. had aired from 2003-2007, receiving rave reviews. Rachel and Melinda are here to dissect each scene that made us love the show in the first place.
Next on the list is Drama Queens. The podcast stars Bethany Joy Lenz, Hilarie Burton, and Sophia Bush talking about the saga that is One Tree Hill, a nine-season show. The stars discuss their iconic series and why fans have come to know and love it.
In addition to The O.C. and One Tree Hill, another important podcast is That Thing I Do, starring Darren Criss and Este Haim. Both Darren and Este discuss their mutual love for music (as both are also musicians) as well as their love for 90s pop culture.
YEM had the opportunity to interview Lauren Goldberger and Jeanette Harris-Courts of All That and a Bottle of Wine as well as Whitt Laxon for his podcast, Duff Enough. These interviews are just two important types of podcasts detailing the 90s and early 2000s.
Next, we will begin with Lauren Goldberger and Jeanette Harris-Courts of All That and a Bottle of Wine, their podcast that discusses iconic movies, shows, and music that came from that era. Lauren and Jeanette had initially been strangers, meeting at a bar one night through mutual friends. The two discovered that they had a shared love for all things pop culture from the 90s and early 2000s; therefore, they made the decision to create a podcast together. This has certainly strengthened their friendship, as both never seem to run out of ideas.
In addition to All That and a Bottle of Wine, Whitt Laxon’s podcast, Duff Enough focuses on former Disney Channel star Hilary Duff, a.k.a. our beloved Lizzie McGuire. YEM spoke to Whitt, where he divulged his obsession with Lizzie McGuire and his dedication to following the life and career of Hilary Duff.
Whitt Laxon spoke to YEM about his desire for starting a podcast, where he drew inspiration from Lauren Goldberger and Jeanette Harris-Courts’ podcast, where one episode revolved around Hilary Duff. As Whitt is a superfan, he could not help but scream at his phone, as he felt the same amount of passion for pop culture. Whitt shared his love for Hilary Duff, whether she’s playing Lizzie McGuire, Kelsey Peters in Younger, Samantha “Sam” Montgomery in A Cinderella Story, or singing pop classics, she will always remain an early 2000s icon.
