The day has finally come PLL fans. Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists premieres tonight on Freeform!
The series is a spin-off of the hit drama: Pretty Little Liars. PLL stars Sasha Pieterse and Janel Parrish are reprising their iconic roles as Alison DiLaurentis and Mona Vanderwaal. The new series will also star Disney Channel actress Sofia Carson as a new character named Ava.
Also, the premiere has been years in the making. After Pretty Little Liars aired its final episode in 2017, Freeform announced its idea for the spinoff. The Perfectionists was officially announced in 2018.
On the show, the town of Beacon Heights seems perfect. From its top-tier college to its overachieving residents. But nothing is as it appears to be. So when the high-stakes environment pushes the residents to a breaking point, someone snaps and a murder occurs.

This isn’t the first Pretty Little Liars spinoff to air. Back in 2013, the first PLL spinoff aired, called Ravenswood. Unfortunately, the series only lasted one season.
Also, Freeform is familiar with spinoffs of its popular series. This year, a spinoff of The Fosters premiere. Good Trouble followed Callie and Mariana Foster as they journeyed on their own on the West Coast. PLL will have a spinoff of their own!
So far no other original PLL cast members have been expected to make an appearance. (Other than Sasha and Janel). But with the show’s success, anything is possible! Former PLL cast members have stated that they are open to the idea of appearing not the spinoff.
Pretty Little Liars is based on the book of the same name by Sara Shepard. The Perfectionists is also based on a book by Sara Shepard. I Marlene King developed the series. And she will also be helming The Perfectionists. Check out YEM’s exclusive interview with I Marlene King here.
