Pretty Little Liars alum, Shay Mitchell, has will co-star in the new Lifetime drama You. The series will be produced by Warner Horizon Scripted Television. You, being developed by writers and executive producers Greg Berlanti and Sera Gamble, is based on Caroline Kepnes’ book of the same name. The series, described as a psychological thriller, is a 21st century love story that tackles the age old question: What would you do for love? Joe, played by Penn Badgley, is a brilliant bookstore manager who crosses paths with an aspiring writer. He uses the internet and social media to learn about her life and get close to her. It escalates quickly from a crush to an obsession, as he removes every obstacle or person that stands in his way.
Mitchell will play Peach Salinger, a controlling queen bee like character that has her sights set on Joe. As part of the deal, Mitchell’s Amore & Vita Productions will see the actress and her producing partner David Dean Portelli develop scripted and unscripted projects for broadcast, cable, on-demand, streaming and digital platforms via WB’s portfolio, including Warner Bros. Television, Warner Horizon Scripted TV, Warner Bros. Animation and Warner Bros. Television Group’s digital venture Blue Ribbon Content.
In June, Mitchell wrapped her seven-season run on Freeform’s hit series Pretty Little Liars, which was produced by Warner Horizon. Her credits include the feature Mother’s Day. Greg Berlanti has an impressive list of credits as well. He is the lead creative behind many of The CW’s hits including Arrow, The Flash, Legends of Tomorrow, Supergirl, and Riverdale. He definitely has a lot on his plate, but quality hasn’t lacked because of it. Riverdale just won seven awards at the Teen Coice Awards.
