“Teen Wolf” fans, ask and you shall receive! Back by popular demand, MTV announced a brand new “Teen Wolf” movie will be coming to Paramount+ next year. The official Teen Wolf Twitter account at @MTVteenwolf recently tweeted the breaking news.
According to reports, the new Teen Wolf film “will follow the story of a ‘terrifying evil’ emerging out of the town of Beacon Hills. The wolves are howling once again, calling for the return of Banshees, Werecoyotes, Hellhounds, Kitsunes, and every other shapeshifter in the night. But only a werewolf like Scott McCall, no longer a teenager, yet still an Alpha, can gather both new allies and reunite trusted friends to fight back against what could be the most powerful and deadliest enemy they’ve ever faced.”
It’s yet to be announced if the entire original cast will be returning for the film. MTV stated the original cast is currently “in talks” to join the upcoming movie though. “Teen Wolf” star Tyler Posey (who plays Scott McCall) has been very vocal about returning and it seems like now he’ll get his chance to do just that.
Here’s a quote from Tyler talking about reprising his role:
“I’m so proud of Teen Wolf, I’m so proud of that character,” Posey said. “But it is overwhelming, it’s like wow, do you notice anything else that I do? Which is okay if they don’t, because I’m not craving their attention, but it makes me want to do more Teen Wolf. We got to give these kids what they want, I want it too.”
Who else are fans hoping to see return? How about Scott’s human best friend Stiles (Love and Monsters‘ Dylan O’Brien), his werewolf mentor Derek (Superman and Lois‘ Tyler Hoechlin), Stiles’ banshee girlfriend Lydia (Escape Room: Tournament of Champions‘ Holland Roden), Scott’s former Kitsune girlfriend Kira (Chicago Med‘s Arden Cho), and their former Kanima pal Jackson (American Horror Story: Cult‘s Colton Haynes). Only time will tell on their involvement in the upcoming movie.
The good news doesn’t end there! The entire “Teen Wolf” series is coming to Paramount+ in December 2021 and a brand new show called “Wolf Pack” is premiering in 2022, developed by Teen Wolf’s creator, writer, and producer Jeff Davis.
“Teen Wolf” is loosely based on the original 1985 Michael J. Fox film of the same name, which followed the story of a social outcast high-school student named Scott McCall, who was suddenly bitten by a werewolf the night before sophomore year. Later, the MTV television series show “Teen Wolf” ran for six seasons from 2011-2017.
