The Marshall Mathers LP 2

Marshal Mathers LP cover

Label: Aftermath

ASIN: NA

About the Album: Eminem is set to release his new album titled The Marshall Mathers LP 2 on November 5th. It has high expectations since his sophore album (The Marshall Mathers LP) is widely considered best album of his career. Keeping on theme, the new album cover is very similar to his previous album cover – both depict his childhood home. Eminem is not one to shy away from mining his traumatic childhood experiences for songs. Interestingly enough, the house (on the cover) has undergone some changes – possibly changes that reflect on Eminem’s current life. On the first cover the house looks well-kept and lived in. On the second, the house looks abandoned and is boarded up with a grown over lawn. Thematic intensity? Your guess is as good as ours.

Track Spotlight: This is a new Eminem. On the lead single, “Bezerk,” Billy Squier’s “The Stroke” is sampled and it definitely causes a BEZERK sound. There’s also a presence of some lost rap-rock cut from the Beastie Boys‘ Licensed To Ill sessions. FYI, Rick Rubin is executive-producing MML2, along with Dr. Dre. Crazy buzz saw guitar rocks throughout and it’s a definite throw down track.
