“The Originals” is a spin-off from “The Vampire Diaries.” Set in New Orleans “The Originals” follows original vampire siblings Klaus, Elijah, and Rebekah. Werewolf Hayley is pregnant with Klaus’ child and with the realization that “every King needs an heir” Klaus is embracing the idea of having a child on the way. Father-to-be Klaus is also plotting to take down his protégé, Marcel who is leader of the New Orleans vampires. We start off the episode with Davina un-daggering Elijah just for a brief moment, unaware that it renders it essentially useless.
Klaus has two missions – to get Elijah back and more importantly, to talk Davina into joining him to take down Marcel. He goes to Cami’s for help. He confesses to her that there’s a war going on between the vampires and the witches. He compels her not to be afraid. And it works, obviously. Davina is wants out of the attic and asks Marcel if she can go to the town music festival, and in an oddly human turn, wants to reconnect with an old boy friend of hers. Marcel says he will only allow it if Cami chaperones her. That would have been a solid plan, but now Klaus has control over Cami. He eventually gets Davina alone and forces her to work with him. In return, he won’t harm her boy toy Tim.
Rebekah goes snooping and finds out that the attic is above St. Ann’s church, which is now abandoned due to a horrible massacre of nine students that occurred there. Rebekah can’t enter the room, but talks to a half-awake Elijah. He manages to tell her one thing of the utmost importance — protect Hayley.
Meanwhile, Hayley visits the a bayou baby clinic at the insistence of a witch named Agnes. Clearly it was a trap and soon a group of warlocks show up to kill her and what they think is an evil baby. Rebekah appears just in time to help out Hayley, but they are both shot! Hayley ends up being just fine, thanks to the baby’s all-healing vampire blood. We also learn that Shawn, the boy responsible for the church massacre, was actually Cami’s twin brother! It’s the reason she’s in town and not sleeping – she’s convinced he was compelled into doing it. Klaus compels her to not worry about it and promises he will bring the person responsible to justice. In the end, Elijah awakes and Marcel has no idea what has happened. What will happen next week? Tune into “The Originals” Tuesday’s on the CW to find out. Check local listings for times.
