“The Santa Clause” is coming back to Disney but on a smaller screen!

“The Santa Clause” (working title) is coming back to Disney but on a smaller screen. Tim Allen will return to the role of Scott Calvin in a Disney+ Original Limited Series in which he will also executive produce. Kevin Hench (“Last Man Standing”), Richard Baker, Rick Messina will join Allen as executive producers. Along with them Jack Burditt (“30 Rock,” “Modern Family,” “Frasier,” “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt”) who will also be the showrunner. In the Disney+ series, Scott Calvin is about to turn 65 and realizes that he can’t be Santa forever. He’s beginning to lose some of his Santa duties, and more importantly, his family could benefit from a life in the normal world, especially his two kids who have only lived in the North Pole. With his elves, children, and family to please, Scott sets out to find another Santa Claus while preparing his family for a life outside of the North Pole.

After his first portrayal of Scott Calvin in 1994, Allen won a People’s Choice Award. He then went on to make two other sequels in 2002 and 2006. They were titled “The Santa Clause 2” and “The Santa Clause 3: The Escape Clause.”. Allen’s previous Disney ventures include a reunion with the creative team from “The Santa Clause” to make Disney’s “Jungle 2 Jungle,” and the feature remake of the Disney classic, “The Shaggy Dog,” in 2006. Allen was also the narrator to the 2012 Disneynature documentary, “Chimpanzee.”. Another voice-over job he did and perhaps his most notable was the voice of Buzzlightyear in “Toy Story,” “Toy Story 2,” and “Toy Story 3.”

Allen’s claim to fame and first-ever acting gig was the show “Home Improvement,”. The show is a top-rated ABC series that ran from 1991-1999. His character, Tim “The Tool Man” won a Golden Globe in 1994 and a People’s Choice Award for eight consecutive years from 1992-1999.
