The Smart Little World of Albert Tsai

Albert Tsai imagePrecocious and articulate Albert Tsai is not your typical child actor. As the well-spoken son Bert to Jackie (Enlightened’s Michaela Watkins) on Trophy Wife, it’s already been established that viewers never know what will come out of this amazing little kid’s mouth, whether it’s a scene involving Legos or chewing gum.

“We have a lot in common,” Albert says of Bert, “including playing with Legos, we both like to dance, and we both like science experiments. He’s really curious, and we both like to ask questions.” There’s that precociousness on full display!

Albert has had a lot of fun on set (his second ever, after a guest stint on How I Met Your Mother this past season) and off. For the already iconic chewing gum scene, where Bert and his brother Warren (Ryan Lee) film an online review of…chewing gum, a lot of chewing gum was of course used. “We tried different flavors, and we made sure it was sugar free!” he reminisces. “All of my cast mates are really nice,” he shares. “We help each other and support each other, and it starts to feel like a [real] family.”

As for the future of the show, Albert is excited. “There’s going to be a lot of physical comedy!” he buzzes. Looking onward, he would love to work with The Disney Channel in some capacity, since “my favorite show is Austin & Ally.”

For now, you can catch the young history buff (his favorite books are biographies and history) on Trophy Wife on Tuesdays on ABC.
