Top 10 What To Look Forward To This Week

While things are definitely ramping up in terms of quality of summer programming, we definitely have our favorites that we look forward to every week. Below, we’ve laid out our guide to the top 10 what to look forward to this week:

Top Ten Collage

#1: X-Men: Days of Future Past

It’s definitely summer blockbuster season and it’s heading into high gear with the release of the newest installment in the X-Men franchise, X-Men: Days of Future Past. We loved the last installment, but this one looks like it’s going to shed some light on the history of some of our favorite superheroes. Look out for star-studded performances from Jennifer Lawrence, James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Hugh Jackman, Halle Berry, Nicholas Hoult…the list goes on and on! Check it out starting 5/23.

#2. Blended

While sometimes Adam Sandler movies can be a little bit off the mark, we’re really excited about his newest effort, Blended. Adam and Drew Barrymore are the new Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks…They’re irrepressibly sunny, always funny and definitely bring some much-needed happiness into the world. Blended hits theaters 5/23.

#3. The Rules for Breaking by Ashley Elston – Out 5/20/14

We’re more than excited for this thriller by author Ashley Elson. The story follows Anna Boyd, a member of Witness Protection who thinks she’s finally free from her terror…only to find out she’s actually a pawn in a dangerous game of cat and mouse with a drug cartel. It seems like it has just the right amount of suspense and crime to make it feel fresh, while touching on the romance and excitement we’re looking for.

#4. The Summer Invitation by Charlotte Silver – Out 5/20/14
The Summer Invitation seems like it has the potential to be a new type of Franny and Zooey. It’s the ultimate coming of age story, tracking two very different sisters and their summer in San Francisco. For anyone who loves California, has a sibling or a crazy aunt, be sure to check this out.

#5. Infinite Sky by C.J. Flood – Out 5/20/14

In this emotional debut novel, love, loss and secret friendships are confronted head on. An updated take on the Romeo and Juliet tale, Iris and Trick are forbidden to be together, and yet their love is stronger than any family feud.

#6. Reborn by C.C. Hunter – Out 5/20/14

Reborn is not just another Vampire series…although the creatures are featured prominently. Think Vampire Diaries meets X-Men. Once Della has been turned she has nowhere to go, except to take refuge in a special school amongst others like her. The first in a series that’s sure to become a hit, don’t miss this one!

#7. Phillip Phillips – Behind the Light

For all you AI Fans, get ready. Behind the Light is the upcoming second studio album by breakout star Phillip Phillips. Interscope is dropping the album 5/19 and we can’t wait. The long awaited follow-up to his debut We’re loving the track  “Fly” right now – don’t miss it!

#8. Coldplay – Ghost Stories

Coldplay’s new album “Ghost Stories” drops 5/19. While one of their songs has already been picked up as a new anthem for the NBA (Clippers in particular), we have a feeling the whole album will be filled with emotionally tender and awesomely anthemic songs. Working with producers like Avicii spells nothing but success for the already well-established band.

#9. Faking It New Episode #5 “Remember the Croquembouche”

Faking It has beyond stolen our hearts and solidified our viewership. We’re not sure how Karma’s Karma is going to play out, but we’re loving watching it. Claire Scanlon directs and Carrie Rosen writes on the 5/20 episode….one that we’ve already set our DVR to record long in advance.

#10. Labyrinth miniseries – Premieres 5/22

Labyrinth is a miniseries based on the 2005 novel of the same name by Kate Mosse. The historical setting jumps between modern and medieval France. Labyrinth follows two women, amazing actresses Vanessa Kirby and Jessica Brown Findlay, who are searching for the Holy Grail. The all-star cast also includes John Hurt. This miniseries kicks off CW Summer and we can’t wait to catch it!
