“This week, since we’re wrapping up season 1 of MTV’s Finding Carter, we’ve exclusively focused on the music that has accompanied our favorite moments in the finale.  We can’t wait for season 2, but until then we hope you enjoy these tunes courtesy of these awesome artists … some new and some familiar.”

Mikky Ekko – “Smile” // Finding Carter, Season 1 Episode 12

This entrancing song by Mikky Ekko is playing as Carter goes round her room removing the remnants of Crash from her life. Mikky Ekko really does have a voice that oozes emotion and the lyrics of the song reflect Carter’s mood. Mikky has a deal with RCA records, and co-wrote the song “We Remain for The Hunger Games: Catching Fire – Original Motion Picture Soundtrack, performed by Christina Aguilera, amongst his other accolades. Fauntella Crow – “Lost Here” // Finding Carter, Season 1 Episode 12

Fauntella Crow accompanies an emotional scene between Max and Carter in his hotel room. Fauntella Crow is a new folk outfit consisting of Jessy Greene and Sunday Lane laying it down with rapturously simple vocal, piano and violin sounds. They hail from the city of Angels, and exploded out of SXSW in 2013. Grab a copy of their debut EP, Lost Here, from which this track originates. Check out the track below:

Tycho – “Melanie” // Finding Carter, Season 1 Episode 12

Carter and her mom and dad go to visit Max at the hospital and find out that he’s awake whilst this dreamy trip hop song plays in the background. Tycho is an American producer from San Francisco who is famous for his ambient beats. He’s remixed tracks for Thievery Corporation and Little Dragon. Oh … and he played a little show called Burning Man this year. You might have heard of it. Check out the incredibly mellow track below:

Misterwives – “Vagabond” // Finding Carter, Season 1 Episode 12

We couldn’t wrap the first season of Finding Carter go by without referencing the awesome theme tune. It’s a soulful coming of age song with poignant lyrics that make us feel like every inch the teenager, helped by Mandy Lee’s Stevie Nicks style delivery. The group is four parts male to one part female, as suggested by the fun gender rearrangement of “sister wives” and brought out a stellar debut EP titled “Reflections” after forming in late 2012 in New York. They are currently touring the US through October. In case you missed it the twenty four times it played in the last three months, get a sample of their sound below:
