Amy Stroup – “Sabotage” // Chasing Life, Season 1 Episode 10

This hauntingly sad song is playing in the hospital as Brenna holds a vigil over April’s bed. We’ve written about Amy Stroup before and the more material we hear from the Nashville singer/songwriter, the more she seems like a natural successor to Regina Spektor or even Tori Amos. We just love her drama infused vocals and crashing keys. She’s currently playing dates on the west coast for her US tour; look out for more dates in a city near you!

Matthew Mayfield – “Safe and Sound” // The Fosters, Season 2 Episode 9

This song plays as Stef cries whilst fixing the faucet, the words of the song mirroring her heartache over losing the baby. It’s a tender ode that’s whispered over softly strummed guitar. Matthew Mayfield is an artist from Birmingham, Alabama who made waves at SXSW in 2010 and subsequently had a top twenty album with Now You’re Free. “Safe and Sound” is pulled from his second studio album, A Banquet for Ghosts.

Chet Faker – “Gold” // Teen Wolf, Season 4 Episode 8

This song by Australian artist Chet Faker plays as Derek and Braeden fool around together. The vocals on this track are Motown influenced and Chet is quickly establishing a reputation with his experimental electronic beats. He also famously collaborated with fellow Ozzie Flume on the track “Left Alone” in 2012. This track comes from his debut album, Built on Glass, which was released in April of this year.

Colony House – “Silhouettes”  // Pretty Little Liars, Season 5 Episode 10

This upbeat track is playing as Hanna and Caleb are out for a jog and Spencer stops to talk to them. Colony House are out with their debut album, When I was Younger, from which this track is the lead single. The album veers between buoyant pop and more atmospheric rock and is sure to be a hit. Cathy Heller – “Be Brave” // Switched at Birth, Season 3 Episode 20

This is the song that plays as Daphne finally voices her pain to Kathryn. Cathy Heller is an LA based musician who has also had her music featured on Pretty Little Liars and Girl Meets World, and whose debut album Breaking Free was produced by Bill Lefler, who has also produced for Ingrid Michaelson.
