TV Tunes – Week of June 22nd, 2015

Here are the songs featured on your favorite TV Shows this week!

1.

Song: “Trouble in Paradise” Tele Novella

Where: Pretty Little Liars –  Season 6, Episode 4: “Don’t Look Now”

Scene: At the Brew, Spencer enters into a sticky deal with Sabrina. Spencer asks if she knows of her and her tumultuous story while trying to buy marijuana from her.

Why: This song has such a PLL vibe. It works in the scene because Spencer is getting herself into a potentially bad situation given she’s already got an arrest record and a history of drug abuse. The song has a cheeky bad girl vibe to it. It gives you the feeling of doing something naughty but having fun. Spencer is desperate when she tries to get the drugs, but she also likes to do things a little outside the box.

2.

Song: “Right Time to Tell You by Sugar & The Hi Lows

Where: Pretty Little Liars –  Season 6, Episode 4: “Don’t Look Now”

Scene: At the Brew, Emily confronts Sarah about her sneaking out of the house in the middle of the night.

Why: This melodic duet is the perfect backdrop to a heart to heart. Emily is trying to be sensitive to Sarah’s struggle. It also has a bit of double meaning with the lyrics. The chorus says “I’m just waiting for the right time to tell you but I think it’s better that you never know.” This song could score 90% of the conversations on PLL.

3.

Song: “The Odds” by The Cabin Project

Where: The Fosters – Season 3, Episode 3: “Déjà vu”

Scene: Jude and Connor have a heart to heart while Callie searches the park for AJ and sees the water tower. Stef encourages the boys to talk out their emotions.

Why: This is a great backdrop for the heart to heart. Stef and the boys are truly vulnerable. They’ve been through a shooting and are finally talking it out. The song is about being there for each other, even under not perfect circumstances. It sets the scene really beautifully.

“I will be here for good, but we don’t always shine like I hoped we would.”

4.

Song: “Thinking About Your Face” by Jeremy Joshua

Where: So You Think You Can Dance –  Season 12, Episode 4: “Auditions #4 New York”

Scene: Alain “HurriKane” Lauture, from Haiti, auditions for Team Street.

Why: This song is unique, hard-hitting and a force to be reckoned with, just like Alain “HurriKane” Lauture. The judges agreed and pushed him through!
