It would seem that casting news for Young Adult TV shows revolves around just a few hot and very in-demand names, and what a busy bunch they are! But because things change in showbiz faster than it takes Disney to fast-track something into production, the names on that list are changing all the time. So to that end, we here at YA Mag will undertake the hefty task of keeping you up to date on who’s playing what, who’s hot, and who’s not. nina-dobrev-the-originalsThe Vampire Diaries’ Nina Dobrev will cross over to guest on the spin-off series The Originals this coming season. In a twist, Nina will portray Tatia, a doppelganger who has a history involving Elijah and Klaus. Season 2 premieres Monday, October 6 at 8pm.

Jessika Van (Awkward) and Sam Littlefield have joined The Messengers, a sci-fi drama about a mysterious object that crashes on earth, killing a group of seemingly unconnected strangers who then are resurrected. Van will play Koa Lin, a grifter from Hong Kong, while Littlefield will play Leland Schiller, a brilliant computer genius turned hacker.

daren-kagasoff-red-band-societyWe love Daren Kagasoff! The cutie from Secret Life of the American Teenager (and soon to appear in horror film Ouija) has signed on to join Red Band Society! Darren will play Hunter, an acerbic, brainy rebel, admitted to the hospital with a life-threatening illness.

real-genius-posterNBC is working on a reboot of the 1985 movie Real Genius for TV. The comedy follows the relationship between a super genius and his naive co-worker.
