Series Rundown: As the title would suggest, Once Upon A Time follows various fairytale characters in an alternate universe. The series mainly centers on the Enchanted Forest and Storybrooke, and in Season One, the Evil Queen’s plan to ensure she is the only one with a happy ending. In addition to the Evil Queen, other known characters include Snow White, Prince Charming, Rumpelstilkskin and Belle. All of these characters are interwoven with real life characters, including writers and journalists, which makes for an interesting pastiche. Once… has an interesting tone, darker than one might expect and often delights in the wickedness. Will Rumpel and Belle reunite? Will Henry return in some way? Is the Curse actually broken? Will everyone start returning to Other World? Hopefully S2 helps a sister out.
Highlight(s): The production design on the show is actually a work of art. It drives home the ethereal versus real qualities and is necessary to transport viewers into Other World and back again. Robert Carlyle as Rumpelstilkskin is not to be missed.
