YEM Exclusive Interview | with Imogen Cohen from The Fairly Oddparents: Fairly Odder

For those who are fans of The Fairly OddparentsFairly Odder, we have some good news for you. We have an exclusive interview with Imogen Cohen, who stars as Zina in the show! We are excited to talk to Imogen about her role as Zina, her thoughts on the show, her fellow cast members, and more. But before we can start the interview, here is some context about the show and its predecessor, and what the show is about.

The Fairly OddParents: Fairly Odder is a comedy, live-action/animated series that was developed by Christopher J. Nowak. The show premiered on March 31st, 2022 on Paramount+ and Nickelodeon’s official website and is considered the sequel to the original show. The story stars the cousin of Timmy Turner, Vivian “Viv” Turner whose portrayed by Audrey Grace Marshall. The show’s synopsis follows her magical adventures with her new stepbrother Roy Raskin, whose portrayed by Tyler Wladis. The two must navigate through life in Dimmsdale as they share two magical fairies, Cosmo and Wanda–the same fairies that Timmy had until he had gifted them to Viv and Roy before leaving for college. As mentioned earlier, this sitcom stars both animated and live-action, which means while the actors and actresses themselves are live-action, the fairies aren’t. It’s a nice homage to the original show if you compare how Cosmo and Wanda are portrayed in the other live-action shows and movies.

For those who were born in the early 2000s or continued to watch the original show in the 2000s, you will recognize the live-action show from its predecessor, The Fairly Oddparents. The original series stars Timmy Turner’s adventures with Cosmo and Wanda, and the show continued for at least 10 seasons. The show was considered to be the second, longest-running show, right behind Spongebob Squarepants. The connection between the original show with this one is that this show serves as a sequel to the original show. Timmy is heading off to college, Vicky now works as an evil teacher, and Crocker doesn’t teach anymore. What fans will extremely appreciate, however, is that both Wanda’s and Cosmo’s voice actors, Susanne Blakeslee and Daran Norris, return to reprise their roles as both Cosmo and Wanda. Pretty neat, huh?

For those who need a small refresher on Imogen, here’s some information on her. Imogen Cohen is a young, television actress who is predominantly known for her role as Zina in the Fairly OddParents: Fairly Odder show. She made her debut as Karen Anvil in the Dear Mom short, and she was announced to be a cast member of The Naughty Nine film. She’s a member of the Screen Actors Guild and was cast alongside Audrey Grace Marshall on the Fairly OddParents: Fairly Odder show.

We start the interview by asking Imogen if she was ever familiar with the Fairly OddParents. She stated that she wasn’t even familiar with the original series when she started auditioning for the show, but upon getting the role, she started her research and began watching the original show. She realized why the original show was so iconic, and she states that she feels blessed to be a part of the live-action show. She’s also excited to know what people will think of the new characters, and living vicariously through Viv and Roy as their greatest wishes are being granted is exhilarating to her. She’s very excited to see what people will think of Zina unintentionally saving the day multiple times in the show. We also ask Imogen about her relationship with the cast members. She eagerly answers that they’re all best friends, both on and off-set. She states that working with Laura Bell Bundy is a dream come true for her, as Laura is one of Imogen’s biggest, broadway idols. Imogen considers her to be one of the smartest, funniest people she has ever met. When asked about Zina, Imogen mentions that while Zina does live next door to the characters, she’s not the girl-next-door type of person. She describes Zina as someone who marches off in the beat of her drum and is undeniably self-assured, and that quality is what Imogen aspires to have.

We would like to thank Imogen for spending some time with us! You can follow her on her Instagram @imogen_cohen.
