In episode 43 of The Young Entertainment Podcast, Mordechai and Daniella go behind the scenes of Heated Rivalry with an interview with Kolton Stewart, who plays Carter in the hit HBO Max show. Colton shares exclusive BTS content from set, settles the biggest online debates, and also teases season 3 of My Life with the Walter Boys.
Kolton has had a career year, with three major projects released in 2025. Aside from Dylan in Heated Rivalry, he also starred as Zach, roommate and teammate of Noah Beck’s character Drayton in the Tubi original Sidelined 2: Intercepted, and as Dylan Newsome in the Netflix series My Life with the Walter Boys. Kolton said 2025 was an incredible year and it was so great to feel the love from all the viewers.
“It was cool to play different age ranges, different types of characters, I’m really grateful for all the opportunities and how it worked out time wise.”
From football to hockey, Kolton has played many athletes in his roles and said it was much easier since he grew up playing these sports. Though he revealed football was much easier to film in Sidelined 2: Intercepted, he would sometimes just lace up his skates and play hockey with the cast of Heated Rivalry for fun on off days. It was like he was in the NHL for a week!
“Being on the ice adds that whole other layer for the crew and for the cameras.”
Heated Rivalry became a breakout hit overnight, now averaging over 9 million US viewers per episode. Kolton said while he didn’t anticipate how much of an impact the show would have, he knew how good director Jacob Tierney was when he first signed on and commended how incredible Hudson Williams, Connor Storrie, and François Arnaud are as actors.
“The reception for the show was insane, and so warranted, and I was just really happy to be a part of it.”
The bond of the cast on the show was so strong and Kolton got along very well with François, who he filmed with the most. He also said he was in awe of how free Hudson is when he acts and revealed Connor would keep his Russian accent all day on set. Talk about commitment!
“[Connor Storrie’s] commitment to the craft of keeping his Russian accent on set was cool to see.”
We also talked all things related to My Life with the Walter Boys. Kolton’s character Dylan and Mya Lowe’s character Kiley had a special relationship in season two of the show, and Kolton said he and Mya became very close off-set, which helped build up to that season finale kiss. Season 3 is confirmed and Kolton can’t wait for fans to see it!
“I really have liked seeing the arc that Dylan has on [My Life with the Walter Boys], it’s been so much fun to play.”
The fun didn’t stop there and we end the episode with Kolton answering some of your juiciest fan questions, and teasing what he’d love to see from Heated Rivalry season 2. Consider this:
- Instead of only going to your dressing room and or leaving set on off days, try and take advantage of being on set. You can learn a lot from just observing directors and camera people and how they operate.
- Use every audition as a ‘class’ and an opportunity to play a different role in your pursuit of being an actor.
