Summer hasn’t even begun so no need to ask “Where Did Summer Go?” in Alec Joseph‘s single. Here he discusses what its like before going on stage and how a song is made from start to finish.
YEM: What has been your favorite part about touring? Is there one show that stood out amongst the rest and why?
Alec Joseph: My favorite part about touring is getting to meet so many different people all over the world. I love hearing people’s stories and what they think of my music! The reaction to my new song “Where Did Summer Go?” has been incredible, and seeing and hearing people sing back the words is the most amazing feeling. Honestly, every single city I’ve been to has something about it that’s special to me.
YEM: What has been the hardest challenge throughout your career and how did you overcome it?
AJ: The hardest challenge throughout my career has been trying to find what makes me different from everyone else. I think when I realized that it was more about just being myself then trying to stick out is when I have had more success.
YEM: What’s the writing process like?
AJ: Each of my songs usually has its own journey in terms of how it is created, but most often I come up with a title or a concept, then create some cool chords that fit the vibe, add a melody, then lyrics, then production.
YEM: What’s one thing you do right before getting on stage?
AJ: Right before going on stage, my team and I form a circle and pray for the show, being very thankful that we are given the opportunity to tour and meet so many amazing people.
YEM: What’s one thing you learned that you can share with someone who wants to pursue the same career?
AJ: One thing I’ve learned that I think is really important is that you shouldn’t worry about every little thing because most likely you are going to laugh about it later.
YEM: Whom would you like to collaborate with and what type of music would you like to jam to?
AJ: I would love to collaborate with Miley Cyrus. I feel like the music she has been creating recently has been really down to earth and relatable, and I love whom she has become as an artist.
YEM: What are the top five songs you are currently listening to?
AJ: The top five songs on my playlist right now are:
