Better Nate Than Ever Premiering as Disney+ Original Movie

It’s finally been revealed that the movie adaptation of Better Nate Than Ever will be coming to Disney+ as an original movie. This news follows an open casting call announcement for the film from earlier this year. The project is currently in production in New York, New York at this time.

This news may be particularly exciting for those of you who are fans of the Disney+ hit series High School Musical: The Musical: The Series. Tim Federle, the author of the Better Nate Than Ever novel, also happens to be a creator of HSMTMTS. This means he’s no stranger to the Disney+ streaming service, and we have high hopes that this new theater-based movie will be a fun and wild ride.

Better Nate Than Ever the book was originally published in 2013. It follows 13-year-old Nate Foster who sneaks away from home to New York City in order to make his dreams of becoming a Broadway star come true. The film will follow Nate and his best friend, Libby, as they head to NYC, so Nate can audition for a role in Lilo & Stitch: The Musical. The movie is sure to be full of adventure, drama, and of course, music.

The Better Nate Than Ever movie adaptation doesn’t currently have a release date, but it seems likely that we could see the film drop on Disney+ sometime in 2022. Marc Platt (Mary Poppins Returns, La La Land) and Adam Siegal (Scott Pilgrim vs. The World) are set to produce. While we wait for the release, it wouldn’t hurt to check out the books in preparation for the movie.
