Imagine Dragons Weird Al

Weird All Yankovic Mandatory FunSome things never change. 80s icon Weird Al Yankovic’s new parody album Mandatory Fun is all the rage, with songs like “Foil” (after Lorde’s Royals) and “Word Crimes” (after Robin Thicke’s Blurred Lines) making the YouTube rounds. And Vegas-based alternative band Imagine Dragons, iconic in their own right, are honored to be included on the rock jokester’s latest track listing with the entry “Inactive,” an ode to their hugely popular Radioactive. We were thrilled to interview the band a little while ago about their success and visibility, and we’re even more thrilled to see them receive this distinctive recognition.

“We’re all big Al fans,” drummer Daniel Platzman was quoted telling Billboard. He went on to detail the Dragons’ interesting connection to Weird Al, with their bassist Ben McKee having started out playing live with the jester, as well as Daniel’s own Yankovic history: he performed old Weird Al tunes at summer camp growing up.
