The Mighty Ducks: Game Changer Teaser Announces Spring Release Date

Hockey anyone? For fans who remember The Mighty Duck movies, they’re returning for a new generation. Disney+ has posted a teaser for a ten-episode series, The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers. The show will serve as a sequel to original movie trilogy from the 1990s. The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers will star Lauren Graham as Alex, the supportive mother of Evan, who is played by Brady Noon, a young hockey lover. Along with Brady Noon, the cast consists of a team of talent young actors and actresses including Maxwell Simkins, Luke Islam, Teagen Burns, DJ Watts and more! The series is set to premier March 26 to Disney+.

Those who have seen the original movie series will be happy to know of Emilio Estevez’s return to set as coach Gordon Bombay. Viewers first met Coach Bombay nearly three decades ago, in The Mighty Ducks (1992). That’s when he was coaching the Ducks hockey team as community service. “After 25 years, I am delighted to lace up my skates, put on Coach Bombay’s jacket and return to play the iconic character for this new chapter in The Mighty Ducks franchise,” Estevez said in a statement to Us Weekly .

Taking place in present day Minnesota, 12-year-old Evan Morrow, is cut from the Ducks. The Ducks are the now ultra-competitive local youth hockey team. “I want you to think all about the other kids who’ve been told that they’re too small or too slow. They just want to get out there and play!” Lauren Graham’s character, Alex, tells her son in the trailer. Making a decision to start their own team, the series will follow this mother and son on their adventure to do so.

Be sure to check out the trailer if you haven’t already. And be sure to watch the full movie March 26, 2021 on Disney+!
