‘The Mysterious Benedict Society’ trailer released

May 20th is National Streaming Day, and Disney+ used this opportunity to release the trailer and poster for their upcoming original series The Mysterious Benedict Society. The series follows four gifted orphans who are recruited to form a team to save the world by Mr. Benedict, an eccentric middle-aged man. The series is based on a book series written by Trenton Lee Stewart.

The four orphans, Reynie, Sticky, Kate, and Constance, win a scholarship competition and are given the task to save the world from a global crisis known as The Emergency. They must infiltrate the L.I.V.E Institute (Learning Institute for the Very Enlightened) to discover the truth behind how the crisis happened. When it’s revealed that the headmaster, the sophisticated Dr. Curtain appears to be responsible for the worldwide panic, the team of kids from The Mysterious Benedict Society must devise a plan to defeat him.

The series stars Tony Hale, Kristen Schaal, Ryan Hurst, MaameYaa Boafo, Gia Sandhu, Seth Carr, Emmy DeOliveira, Mystic Inscho and Marta Kessler. Sonar Entertainment, 20th Television, Jamie Tarses, Karen Kehela Sherwood, Deepak Nayar, James Bobin, Matt Manfredi (writer/creator) and Phil Hay (writer/creator) are attached to the project as executive producers. Showrunners for the series are Darren Swimmer and Todd Slavkin.

The adaptation of the best-selling book series was originally set to premiere on Hulu but was later picked up by Disney+ in late 2020. We are very excited about the trailer and cannot wait to see how The Mysterious Benedict Society translates from the books to a TV series. Throughout National Streaming Day, Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+ will be releasing new assets from some of the streaming service’s exciting upcoming summer releases, so keep an eye out for those!
