Nashville 2.7 Shes Got You

Usually weddings are a joyous occasion. Mayor Teddy Conrad’s wedding to Peggy Kenter, however, was a different sort of event. Teddy had to struggle with Maddie’s teen girl angst, not that it was unwarranted. Maddie doesn’t even know about Peggy’s now faux pregnancy that she’s using to trap Teddy into marriage. Maddie was reluctant to sing at the wedding…but eventually came around. Girl knows what’s up. On the Rayna front, she spent the day of Teddy’s wedding shooting guns and snuggling up to a new Alan Jackson type, Luke Wheeler. He was just the thing to mend her bruised heart after all she’s gone through between her producer, Teddy and Deacon. Speaking of Deacon, he performed live at the end of the episode, not as a guitarist but as a solo act! He killed it and it seems as if he’s headed into proper dad territory by really BEING THERE for Maddie. Sigh. Directing our attention toward the storm front known as Juliette Barnes, she simultaneously managed to stand up for her rights in protesting sexual harassment by radio DJ’s and to get herself deeply embroiled with power couple Charlie and Olivia Wentworth. Looks like Charlie’s not the only one interested in having a special relationship with Juliette, as evidenced by Olivia’s behavior at the end of the episode that ended with her and Juliette kissing. Major twists up ahead in that area.  It looks like Gunnar’s settling in happily to his new relationship and will potentially have a concert at an upcoming Radio Festival…but will the record label keep up their end of the bargain after they get the song they wanted from him? Dubious at best. Lastly, Will faced some deep turmoil regarding his sexuality this episode. He ran into an old flame and when said flame was getting harassed at a bar for being gay, Will fled into the night instead of sticking up for what was right. Later, however, Will took all that pent up rage and beat up said harassers…only to head straight into new opening act Layla’s arms. Oh Will, will you learn that being yourself is the only way to stay sane and true? Tune in next week to hear some great tunes and find out what happens with the gang over in Nashville.
