Pretty Little Liars: Where Are They Now? (11th Anniversary of the Pilot)

Premiering on ABC in 2010, this breakout hit caught the attention of audiences far and wide with its fiery characters and twisty plot. Here we celebrate the 11th anniversary of Pretty Little Liars out by checking out what the Liar girls have been up to since the series finale in 2017.

Troian Bellisario (Spencer Hastings)

Raised by a family of lawyers and often referred to as the intellect of the group, Bellisario’s character Spencer Hastings just also happened to be the twin sister to Alex Drake, the show’s main villain. After Alex is arrested, Spencer and her beau Toby start to date again at the end of the series.

Since then, Bellisario has acted in the ABC crime drama Stumptown and directed episodes on the Freeform shows Famous in Love and Good Trouble.

Sasha Pieterse (Alison DiLaurentis)

Sasha Pieterse’s character Alison DiLaurentis was considered the supreme ruler of the PLL clique before she mysteriously disappeared in season one. Miraculously returning several seasons later, she gets involved in a romantic relationship with Emily Fields and they eventually parent two children together. In the finale she proposes to Emily and together they help defeat A.D. once and for all.

Since the last season of the show in 2017, she’s returned for Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists, appeared in the web series Epic Night, and been a guest judge on the Netflix competitive baking show Sugar Rush.

Lucy Hale (Aria Montgomery)

Considered the artsy one of the bunch, Lucy Hale’s character Aria Montgomery was a kind, creative, and quirky addition to the cast. By the end of the show, she goes on to write a successful book and marry her beloved Ezra.
Possibly now the busiest of all the main five PLL actors, she’s been involved in loads of movies since the ending of the show, including Fantasy Island, A Nice Girl Like You, and Son of the South all in 2020 alone. She’s also appeared in a couple Riverdale episodes and even got her own spin-off show called Katy Keene which ran for one season in 2020. Furthermore, she can be seen in the upcoming films The Hating Game and Borrego, in which she also serves as executive producer.
Ashley Benson (Hanna Marin)

Pursued by PTSD and depression, Ashley Benson’s character Hanna Marin had a rough time of it indeed trying to overcome her negative self-image throughout the show. Luckily, she ultimately gets the happy ending she deserves, marrying Caleb Rivers and giving birth to a son.

Ashley Benson acted in the 2018 drama Her Smell and co-wrote the G-Eazy song “Every Night of the Year” in 2020. You can also see her in the 2021 crime drama The Birthday Cake.

Shay Mitchell (Emily Fields)

Known as the “jock” of the group, Shay Mitchell’s character Emily Fields started out shy and introverted and ended up empowered, imposing, and fiercely protective of her friends and family. After surprisingly getting divorced from Alison in PLL: The Perfectionists, showrunner I. Marlene King tweeted in 2020 that the two “are reunited and loving each other hard.”

Shay Mitchell has found continued success in TV acting in the shows You (2018), Dollface (2019-) in which she plays the lead role, and the 2021 anime Trese. She also appeared in the 2018 horror film The Possession of Hannah Grace and the 2018 music video for Drake’s song “In My Feelings.”
