Good afternoon twitter – I'm Author Verlin Darrow and I'm taking over the @YoungEntmag #YAauthorTakeover right now.

then a letter arrives from a fifty-year-old time capsule sending him on a quest to find a book of wisdom his karmic ancestors have been compiling for centuries. #YAauthorTakeover

4.) Tris has to grow into someone beyond his years to get the job done. He learns the hard way that the smartest boy in the world…isn’t. #YAauthorTakeover

"Write what you know," who was it Hemingway, Twain – you tell me. But I've seen other writers who hate to pull from personal – for me Prodigy Quest does have very real truths in it…despite it being in the Speculative genre. #WritingCommunity #booktwt #YAauthorTakeover

Curious for any fellow writers…did you begin writing when you were younger, or later in life? I didn't know I wanted to be a writer until I was 19 in crappy campground in Italy when it rained for a week to relieve boredom. #writerslife #writerslift #YAauthorTakeover #booktwt
— Young Entertainment Magazine (@YoungEntmag) August 26, 2021
And another question for #WritingCommunity Not when you started to write, but when did you feel like a writer? For me the first time was when I was traveling and happened on my first book on a shelf in a bookstore. I ran over to show the clerk, who couldn't have cared less.

2.) In a word, me. I had a lot in common with Tris. At his age, I memorized the Guinness book of world records, most of the World Almanac, and all the Sears catalogue prices. I missed no opportunity to show off what I knew, andI felt superior to pretty much everyone.

3.) At any rate, I find I can channel that kid and know how what he’d say and how he’d respond to all the wild stuff that happens to him on his quest.

For my #protagonist eventually it does, too. But curious – any other writers feature #reincarnation that believe or don't believe in it? Thinking of @monicabyrne13
— Young Entertainment Magazine (@YoungEntmag) August 26, 2021
Or perhaps the writers of "Once and Future" by Cory McCarthy and A.R. Capetta – I'm not sure they are on twitter, but curious to know.

Let's talk #shortstories The only short story I ever wrote got published in an anthology. It's about a girl who tries to save lobsters from her mom's cook pot. #writerslift #YAauthorTakeover #booktwt What about you? Tell me you first – maybe only short? pic.twitter.com/N64ibGypkS

1.) In therapy, clients work toward change and I do my best to facilitate this process. I offer wisdom, practical suggestions, compassion, and humor. Some people need psychic glue to keep from falling apart. Some need solvent to loosen up concretized points of view. #therapy
— Young Entertainment Magazine (@YoungEntmag) August 26, 2021
3.) I know how and why people change, and my work is infused with realistic portrayals of these, even as fantastic things happen to my characters. #YAauthorTakeover #booktwt #writerslift

I've got 12 awful manuscripts in a shed. I learned by doing. Eventually, I got good at it. #authorlife #authorinterview #writingadvice #YAauthorTakeover

And writing, well for me from being a therapist and a spiritual seeker kind of guy, I've got lots to share about how people tick, and how they change…

What do you like best in a book? I like quirky, unpredictable plots and lots of humor. #YAauthorTakeover @AuthorDarrow

Thank you @YoungEntmag for the #YAauthorTakeover. Thanks, to you all for the interest. I've actually been working on a new book in between tweets, so keep your eyes peeled for that one next year. It doesn't have a title yet. It's about a h.s. kid getting sucked into a cult.
