Sophia Lillis to star in new supernatural Netflix show

Netflix announced the actress Sophia Lillis will star in its upcoming series I Am Not Okay With This.

Sophia Lillis is best known for her roles in It and Sharp Objects. She will lead the cast of I Am Not Okay With This as production begins in Pittsburgh, PA.

The show is described as a supernatural coming of age series. It is from Jonathan Entwistle, creator/director of the hit Netflix show The End of the F***ing World and the producers of Stranger Things.

I Am Not Okay With This is based on the Charles Forsman graphic novel. It is an irreverent origin story, following a teenage girl navigating the trials and tribulations of high school. All while dealing with the complexities of her family, her budding sexuality, and… mysterious superpowers just beginning to awaken from deep within her.

Sophia will play the lead character Sydney. Sydney is awkward and smart with a dry, witty, sardonic sense of humor. Like many teenagers, she hates high school. She doesn’t get along with her mom, and her best friend has a boyfriend she abhors. Though she views herself as painfully average, she is far from it. She discovers she has telekinetic powers which may prove to be problematic.

The show will also star Wyatt Oleff, Sofia Bryant, and Kathleen Rose Perkins. The young adult series will feature eight half hour episodes. The show is expected to air in 2020. For more on the show, visit: www.netflix.com/iamnotokaywiththis.

YEM sat down with actress Sophia Lillis upon the release of her movie: Nancy Drew and the Hidden Staircase:

YEM: In this movie, Nancy Drew moves to a small town, but wants some more excitement. Are you personally more of a small town or a city girl?

Sophia: Definitely a city girl! I was born in Brooklyn and still live there. And I go to school in Manhattan. I love living in a city-there’s so much to do – almost too much.

YEM: You also recently played a younger version of Amy Adams on the HBO show Sharp Objects. Did you get to interact with her while filming?
Sophia: We definitely talked a bit beforehand but we actually weren’t shooting together too much since we were the same person, you know. But the director had been working for months with Amy so he had a pretty clear idea of what he wanted.
