Gabi’s Top Ten Tastiest Dishes on Young and Hungry!

Is your mouth watering for all-new eps of Young and Hungry on ABC Family? To tide your appetite over until the summer premiere Wednesday, August 19th, let’s check in with everyone’s favorite goofy but ambitious chef, Y&H’s Gabi Diamond, and dish about all of the yummy/crazy/cool food she’s made for us and her crush/ex/boss Josh up until now.

YOUNG & HUNGRY - ABC Family's "Young & Hungry" stars Kym Whitley as Yolanda, Rex Lee as Elliot Park, Emily Osment as Gabi Diamond, Jonathan Sadowski as Josh Kaminski and Aimee Carrero as Sofia Rodriguez. (ABC FAMILY/Bob D'Amico)

Gabi’s Top Ten Tastiest Dishes on Young and Hungry are as follows:

10. Tiered Strawberry Shortcake with Tahitian Vanilla Creme and Fresh Berries

To cheer up Josh’s right hand man Elliot on his 40th birthday, Gabi works her magic on a ginormous and gourmet take on a dessert classic, a strawberry shortcake that is anything but short. She goes the extra mile, probably because she feels partially responsible for Elliot’s craptastic b-day. In the end, Gabi’s creation gets Elliot out of his funk (and probably gives him a sugar high).

9. Stuffed Mushrooms with Garlic, Eggplant, and Fresh Grated Parmesan

Catching Elliot and Yolanda at their weakest moments during an intense juice cleanse, Gabi is working on her app game (appetizers, that is), and the smell from these tiny finger foods is almost enough to tempt Yolanda and Elliot off of their cleanse…almost, but not quite. Stay strong, guys!!!

8. Chocolate Chip Banana Nut Muffins

As a part of a bigger surprise Gabi has planned for her boss Josh on his 30th b-day, Gabi bakes all night to make Josh the perfect birthday breakfast. Her roommie Sofia is on quality control, so we know the muffins are to die for. Too bad Gabi’s other present for Josh causes such a ruckus when Josh’s celebutante fiancee Caroline claims the super thoughtful hand-knit blanket for her own gift. It’s ok though, Gabi, because those muffins were on point!

7. Cinnamon Toast Tinis with Fresh Grated Cinnamon and ACTUAL Cinnamon Toast Crunch

In an effort to impress Logan (Exec Y&H Producer Ashley Tisdale no less), an editor close to awarding Josh a prestigious honor in her hip magazine, Gabi shakes up some inventive Martinis. Logan loves them…and Gabi, too!

6. High Tea Brunch

With all of Caroline’s elite friends coming over to Josh’s for a shi-shi High Tea Brunch, Gabi is flustered trying to please all of Caroline’s high maintenance cronies. Caroline gives Gabi a hard time, but Gabi doesn’t give in to pressure. She’s prepared for all picky eaters. Gabi makes an assortment of traditional scones for the group, but also Champagne Deviled Eggs with Caviar for the gluten-free crowd, and an Almond Crusted Eggplant dish to please all the vegans. Score: Gabi–1, Caroline–0!!!

5. Gabi’s Gourmet Junk Food Blowout

When Josh announces a “Brogramming Party” (you know, that thing that happens when a bunch of bros who also just happen to be high tech programmers come over) at his place, Gabi steps her party food game into high gear to create a junk food smorgasbord for Josh and his bros, including Sriracha Jalapeño Poppers, Mac & Cheese Crusted with BBQ Potato Chips, Chili Cheese Fries topped with Sour Cream, and for dessert, the coup de geek–Double Stuff Deep Fried Oreos. Holy binary coronary!!!

4. Star Wars Themed Pastry Treats

To sweeten the deal with a rival of Josh’s that he’s looking to win over and bring aboard his tech company, Gabi whips up some interstellar Star Wars treats so that Josh’s adversary “can have something to Chewbacca on.” Lolol. The fella must like Gabi’s baking skills, because he ends up pursuing her AND Josh’s job offer!

3. (Cooking with) Reefer Madness

After pitching Logan, the hip magazine editor, a blog idea about edibles and cooking with marijuana, Gabi gets the opportunity to see what culinary heights she can soar to. Logan requests a batch of sample product and a first draft of the article, all with a strict deadline of 3pm. The only problem? Gabi taste-tests too much of her own product and misses the meeting! Too bad, because her Marijuana Mini-Quiches and Pot Potstickers were giving me the munchies!

2. Falling Duck and Apple Pie

After scoring her job as Josh’s personal chef, Gabi’s skills and nerves are put to the test when she has to cook a dinner for high-powered Chinese businessmen looking to invest in Josh’s company. She creates for them what she calls Flying Duck, a Roasted Duck dish with Spicy Szechwan Pickled Cabbage. But after all her anxiety about making foreign cuisine, what the investors are really craving is the classic spaghetti and meatballs and the good old American apple pie Gabi prepared for dessert!

1. Grilled Cheese

All of that sounds intriguing, inventive, and feisty, just like Gabi! But way back in the pilot episode, Gabi created something much simpler for Josh upon just meeting him that really melted his (and our) heart–Grilled Cheese! It was simple, but ooey gooey, and comforting, and it was delicious enough that Josh hired Gabi on the spot. Thank grilled cheezus for that grilled cheese!
