Tyler Blackburn is saying ‘Hello Again’ after ‘PLL’!! INTERVIEW

Calling all Pretty Little Liars fans… YEM got to chat with Tyler Blackburn who played Caleb Rivers on the show. He broke down what it was like on set and some of the challenges he had to face. Answering the age old question “long or short haired Caleb?”.

YEM: What’s Hello Again about and how does your character fit into the story? What are you hoping the audience sees when watching this film both from your acting and the character?
TB: Hello Again is about love and longing for love. Each characters’ experiences inform how they treat love in another life. My character is searching for love from men, but faces manipulation and deceit, which makes him resentful.
YEM: If there were any challenge’s filming Hello Again what was it and how did you overcome it?
TB: I had never felt so vulnerable while performing. We all had to sing live on set and simulate intimacy in a way that felt very raw. I was very nervous to do this project, but once it was done, I felt invigorated and accomplished. To how well it turned out solidifies my enthusiasm.

YEM: How does your character differ from Caleb from Pretty Little Liars?
TB: There is no comparison. Maybe other than their hair.
YEM: What do you miss most about PLL?
TB: I miss the family we built. It’s very excited to see everyone’s journey though.
YEM: Is there anything you would have done differently on PLL? Or any part to Caleb’s story you wish had or hadn’t happen?
TB: I think the writers carved out many great story lines and arcs for Caleb. I’m satisfied with all of their choices.

YEM: What was your favorite scene to shoot on PLL and why?
TB: Any scene that involved the entire cast was so fun. I loved working with Ashley [Benson], but it was like summer camp when we were all on set together. We often acted like adolescents.
YEM: Whom would you most like to work with again from PLL?
TB: Troian [Belisario].

YEM: What’s one thing you learned in your acting on PLL that you were able to bring to Hello Again?
TB: Just being on a set for as long as I had on PLL took away a lot of anxiety while filming Hello Again. That environment is less intimidating the more you do it.

YEM: What do you have coming up after Hello Again?
TB: I am working on finding the next career move that feels fulfilling and organic.
YEM: Short or long haired Caleb?
TB: Medium.
