This comedy-drama series premiered on December 9th, 2021 on HBO Max and tells the tale of the aftermath of Sex and the City. The series takes place 11 years after the events of Sex and the City and follows the women of the series as they transition from their lives of freedom and friendship in their 30s to a more complicated life in their 50s. For those who haven’t watched the show but have watched Sex and the City, the series does focus on three of the main characters Carrie, Miranda, and Charlotte (all portrayed by their original actresses Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon, and Kristin Davis), with Kim Cattrall returning as a cameo in the 2nd season. And Just Like That… was in development since December 2020 following the cancellation of the third film, and eventually, the cast was announced throughout 2021 and began filming the series in New York City in July 2021. The series was originally supposed to end on February 2022 and was billed as a miniseries, but because of its high reception, the series was renewed with a second season.

If you’ve followed this series for a while, you might have known that this is a revival series of Sex and the City! For that, let’s take a moment to talk about the prequel. Sex and the City is a romantic, comedy-drama created by Darren Star for the HBO channel, and served as an adaptation of a newspaper column written by Candace Bushnell and a book anthology from 1996. The series initially premiered on June 1998, and with the many contributions from various writers, directors, screenwriters, and producers, the series eventually concluded with a total of six seasons on February 2004. The series follows the lives of four women as they follow the relevant and modern issues of sexuality while exploring the differences between friendships and romantic relationships. We highly recommend watching the series. If you enjoyed And Just Like That…, then you’ll surely enjoy Sex and the City!

Let’s also take a brief moment to mention the origins behind Sex and the City. As mentioned earlier, the series adapted to two pieces of media: Candace Bushnell’s newspaper column and a book anthology written in 1996 with the same name. Written by Candace Bushnell for the New York Observer newspaper, the column was entirely based on her and her friend’s lifestyles in the 1990s. The book, meanwhile, served as an anthology of Bushnell’s columns and confused around a character that Bushnell created called Carrie, as she had created her so Bushnell’s parents would not be aware that they were reading her sex life.
