YEM Top 5 Lists: Top 5 New Shows

2020 is finally nearing its end, and we’re all heaving a collective sigh of relief! But just because the year didn’t exactly go to plan doesn’t mean there weren’t a few good things to come out of it. And on the other hand, quarantine definitely made us appreciate the songs, movies, TV shows, and books that saved us from mind-numbing boredom all that much more. Here’s YEM’s 2020 Top 5 List to look back on the best YA content this year had to offer.

1.Julie and the Phantoms

2.High School Musical: The Musical: The Series

If you loved High School Musical, then you have no excuse if you still haven’t seen Disney+’s HSMTMTS. The mockumentary style amps up the comedy while the show delivers us the fancy footwork and great vocals we expect from a musical extravaganza. Read YEM’s interview with Joe Serafini here!

3.Love, Victor

Love, Victor gave us a heartwarming story about young love from a teen’s perspective, not quite ready to come out to his family and friends. It draws on the heartwarming nature of its predecessor Love, Simon but manages to go a little deeper into issues of identity and acceptance. 4.Never Have I Ever

Growing up is complicated, messy, and downright embarrassing. Ever related to something so hard you cringed? Never Have I Ever is the show for you then. Read YEM’s review of Never Have I Ever here!

5.Outer Banks

OUTER BANKS

Outer Banks is what we watched cooped up in our bedrooms, wishing we could feel the salty ocean air on our faces. Combined with the riveting intrigue of this teenage drama, it’s a show you definitely can’t help but binge-watch.
