The former country star crosses over into mainstream pop on her fifth studio album, which includes the hit single “Shake It Off.”

 

2. Horns

Daniel Radcliffe stars in the book-to-screen adaptation of Joe Hill’s acclaimed horror novel.  A young man accused of murdering his girlfriend wakes up one morning with horns sprouting from his forehead that seem to have mysterious powers.  Horns opens in theaters on Friday, October 31.

 

3. Blue Lily, Lily Blue by Maggie Stiefvater

Blue Sargent and the Raven Boys’ saga continues in Book 3 of The Raven Cycle.

 

4. In the Afterlight by Alexandra Bracken

Book 3 of the Darkest Minds trilogy finds Ruby and her cohorts fleeing the ruins of Los Angeles to find redemption, and suffering the consequences of their actions.

 

5. HAERTS – Haerts

The Brooklyn indie-pop quartet finally releases their debut album, which includes the much-blogged 2013 single “Wings.”  Fans of groups led by dreamy female vocalists, such as Gems, Young Summer, and Wild Ones will have their hearts stolen by Haerts.

 

6. Gotham – “Spirit of the Goat”

Things are looking grim in Gotham when the first-born sons of the city’s richest and most influential families are being murdered one by one.  Gotham airs Mondays at 8:00 on FOX.

 

7. Waterfall by Lauren Kate

Eureka’s tears have fallen and Atlantis has risen, and with it, the evil King Atlas.  Eureka must fight against her own sadness to be able to defeat the evil king in Book 2 of the Teardrop saga. 

 

8. Ex Cops – Daggers

The Brooklyn indie-rock duo drop their second full-length, which contains the much-blogged single “White Noise.”

 

9. Jane the Virgin – “Chapter Three”

Jane continues to struggle with a decision that will change her life forever, and considers whether Rafael’s wife is motherhood-material.  Jane the Virgin airs Mondays at 9:00 on The CW.

 

10. Shadowboxer by Tricia Sullivan

Mixed martial arts action combines with dark fantasy in this tale about a fighter who must travel to Thailand to learn how to control her emotions but soon uncovers a powerful conspiracy that threatens the souls of children everywhere.
