Young Adult Magazine: Tell us a little bit about yourself when you were younger…where did you grow up?

Adam Misik: I’m 16 years old, growing up in Prague, Czech Republic, which is located in Central Europe. My father is a legend here. He was singing protest songs against the communist regime and was a really important artist during the Velvet Revolution in 1989. So, I grew up in an artistic environment, which definitely affected me in what I do now.

YA: How did you get your start in entertainment?

AM: I was very young, (6) when I got my first role in a movie. Our friend was a casting director and as they were looking for a child actor with red hair, she told me to come to a casting session. At 13, my friends and I started a rock band that became quite successful; we even got to play a main stage on a big festival. But then at 15 I decided I wanted to do a different style of music, as I’m more into pop and R&B. I went solo and got my first record deal. It was all a game of life, really no planning, just pure luck. I’m very grateful for that…

YA: You have a background in both acting and singing – do you prefer one to the other? Do you plan on continuing both?

AM: Until it’s no longer possible, I want to do both. I can’t really say what I prefer; it’s impossible to say. Both are my passion. I’m all about the process of creating, whatever it is. I love it.

YA: What has been your biggest success to date?

AM: It’s hard to say. I think it’s the main role of Josef Mašín in a movie that I’m about to start shooting next year produced by Rick McCallum, who produced Star Wars. It’s based on a real story about two brothers, who escaped from the communist Czechoslovakia in 50’s. 30 000 soldiers were chasing them. It’s a really strong story and great script!

YA: Do you have a mentor? If so, tell us a little more about him/her.

AM: I don’t think I have a specific one. I’m inspired by many people not just those in music and movies: Steve Jobs, George Orwell, Vaclav Havel, Justin Timberlake, Chic, Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder. I like all kinds of creative influence.

YA: Tell us a little bit more about your newest single?

AM:It’s called Your Worlds and so far it has only been released in Czech, but we are planning to release an English version very soon. It’s a summer song about a boy and girl who are on a first date. The guy decides to show her his world of crazy friends; they have their own indie-community where they dance, paint, and simply have fun. We shot the video in a great location by the lake in Prague and we even had a horse on set! ?

YA: Quick: Pick one adjective to describe yourself!

AM:Quick 🙂

YA: Who are some of your favorite artists or bands?

AM: Justin Timberlake, Chic, Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder, Bruno Mars, and Justin Bieber.

YA: Who would you most like to work with?

AM: In the music world I would love to work with Justin Timberlake, Dr.Luke or Max Martin. In the movie industry, I would love to work with with James Franco and Quentin Tarantino. But it’s hard to say; there are lots of very talented people out there…

YA: What do you have coming up?

AM: My album is coming out in Europe shortly. I’m about to go on tour. I have movies and TVshows I’ll be working on here in Europe and in late 2014 I finally plan to move to the U.S. and start my career there.

YA: That’s exciting! We’ll be looking out for you. What can you tell others pursuing the same career?

AM: Well… Every human being is an original. You have to offer something new to the industry. You have to ask yourself what’s the thing that makes you different, original and work on that very hard.

YA: What’s your favorite book or what book are you currently reading?

AM: Currently I’m reading Animal Farm written by George Orwell. And my favorite book of all time is probably Foam of the Days by French writer Boris Vian. I currently star in a play based on this book in a theater in Prague.

YA: What are three things you want your fans to know about you that they might not?

AM: I want to tell my fans that everything I’m doing is done with love and honesty. And next year I’m coming to US and I’m determined work hard and succeed there! Also, my fans might not know that I’m ¼ American, because my grandfather, who my father unfortunately never got to meet, was an American soldier. I secretly wish to one day will find my American relatives, that would be so cool!
