What’s worse than being left out on the playground? Being left out of Baby Group! Ben finds out that Kayla has been hosting a playgroup for all the neighborhood parents and babies, and he and Emma have been excluded. Ben is hurt (moreso than Emma since she doesn’t REALLY know what’s going on) and wants to get Emma in the group. He and Bonnie devise a plan to sneak Emma in. Bonnie poses as a new mom with her adorable baby Esmerelda…who strangely looks like Emma. They’re in. The plan starts off well, but soon enough one of the other mom’s recognize Emma. It was bound to happen. Ben sneaks into the apartment to tell Bonnie to stick it out and Kayla catches them.
To make it up to Emma, Ben and Tucker start a baby playgroup of their own. Being Ben and Tucker they set out to make this the rockin-est playgroup around. They’ve set up a margarita machine and sandwich table for the parents and The Great Tuckini for the kids. They even invite Kayla…although they throw their party at the same time she has hers and invite the same parents. Battle of the parties.
Elsewhere, Danny has upset his girlfriend Amy because he forgot that they were supposed to have lunch with her sister and let her go solo. Danny turns to Riley for help. Riley tries to explain girl code and how to read between the lines with women. It kind of works, and Danny manages to gain some new ground with Amy by inviting her salsa dancing after she dropped only 500 hints. Things seem all good between the three of them (Amy wasn’t a huge Riley fan before but her raging jealousy seems to have abated a bit). However, Danny asks Riley for help again – this time he asks her to teach him to salsa. Amy walks in on the dance lesson and things obviously look way worse then they are (them having fallen onto the couch tangled up in a pile of left feet). Amy says she never wants to see Danny again…that should last about 5 minutes.
Back at the dueling baby parties, Emma’s playgroup goes swimmingly, at least for the babies. For Ben, Bonnie, and Tucker, not so much. They hated all the parents and weren’t stoked about having to wrangle all their crazy children. As they sit around complaining about the other parents, especially one in particular –Sandra, they realize Sandra’s overheard every word! The only logical response is to get drunk, so he and and Tucker straight to the bar along with Riley and Danny; they all drown their sorrows.
Riley decides to give a bit of a sermon, aided by her friend, Father Tequila. She tells Ben he needs to fight for his little girl. She tells Danny he needs to prove to Amy she’s the only one for him via a grand gesture. Tucker has been worrying over his relationship with Vanessa the entire episode, so Riley tells him to cut the cord. And then comes the tattoo parlor. Riley and Danny end up there – Danny decides that his big gesture is going to get Amy’s name tattooed on his wrist. BEST. IDEA. EVER. Ben decides to take a stand for Emma RIGHT AT THAT MOMENT Ben decides to begin by screaming from the fire escape that Kayla is a bad mommy for excluding his little girl. Tucker breaks up with Vanessa over a voicemail. Bad move, Tuck.
Bonnie locks them out on the fire escape in the rain since, ironically, THEY’RE ACTING LIKE CHILDREN but as Ben screaming as brought Kayla down stairs to shut him up, Bonnie gives her an earful. Danny gets his tattoo, but …it reads Riley. He ends up getting back together with Amy, all the while hiding his hand. It’s only a matter of time before she finds out. Fail, Danny, fail.
