Pickups have just been announced and Fall schedules for TV have been set! Finally we can start getting ready for our favorite shows to return and to see the new shows that will become our new faves. Here, we’re giving a run down by network of what we’re most excited about for the upcoming network season.
ABC
Dancing with the Stars
The ratings monster hit is always entertaining. It’s upbeat and showcases so many different sides of celebs outside the way they may be known to the public. We’ve been loving Erin Andrews as the new host and can’t wait to see more of her next season!
How to Get Away With Murder
Everything Shonda Rimes touches turns to gold, so we have high expectations for this new show starring Viola Davis. Davis stars as a professor at a law school…and her students become entwined in a murder plot. Soapy coeds and crime? Sign us up!
AFHV
Who doesn’t need more laughter in their life? America’s Funniest Home Video’s is back and better than ever. While a replacement host hasn’t been named just yet, we feel the new face of the show will breathe some new life into the funny.
Once Upon a Time
The fairytale inspired show that spawned a hit spinoff and reinvigorated and repopularized the genre is back for a fourth season. It may be bigger than ever. We’re hearing there’s potentially five new characters including Kristof, an Evil Sprite, a reindeer, Anna and Hans. Hopefully we’ll find out sooner rather than later.
CBS:
2 Broke Girls
2BG is funnier than ever. The chemistry between Max and Caroline is undeniable and we’ve grown to love them all the more as they’ve (slowly) started to grow up. Season 4 promises more laughs and zany adventures.
Stalker
Stalker comes fresh from the great mind of Kevin Williamson. We’re stoked for this new series that stars Maggie Q and features one of our favorites, Daren Kagasoff in the pilot. Stalkers are scary…but we feel a little better knowing Maggie Q and Dylan McDermott are on the case.
FOX
Glee
It ain’t over til the…New Directions sing! After 5 years, 5 seasons, countless beautiful ballads, more poppy tunes than you can shake a tail feather at, and a lot of major drama, the iconic musical TV series is gearing up for its final swansong. Oh yeah, we’ll be watching.
Red Band Society
Perhaps the coolest and most buzz-heavy new show to be picked up, this black comedy centers on the everyday lives of a group of ill teenagers living in a hospital who form the unlikeliest of bonds.
Gotham
|
Ever wondered about Gotham City before Batman? This vivid imagining of Commissioner Gordon’s origins, along with a young boy named Bruce and several soon-to-be villains, is sure to be a hit with the superhero fanboy set and beyond.
Masterchef Jr.
After a strong first season, this culinary competition show with a twist is back with more kids, more dishes and more red-hot cooking challenges. If only they made kid versions of all the reality competition series!
NBC
Parenthood (finale season)
Thankfully, Parenthood is coming back for a final season after hotly debated cast renegotiations. The final season will be a truncated 13 episodes, however we’re looking forward to sending the Braverman family off with the farewell they deserve.
The Voice
The Voice showcases some amazing talent to be sure but one of the best parts of the show is seeing the dynamic between the judges. Gwen Stefani and Chris Martin have been named coaches and we have a feeling they’ll bring an amazing dynamic to the mix.
A to Z
Charming stars Cristin Milioti and Ben Feldman star in the Rashida Jones produced romantic comedy about a couple that goes through the A to Z’s of dating. We loved Cristin so much in How I Met Your Mother that we’re stoked to see her take center stage in this new show.
The CW
Arrow
This one’s been getting major buzz, with phenomenal cliffhangers at the end of Season 2 that left everyone guessing (is Detective Lance alive? What’s going on with Olicity??). Plus, the series is about to give birth to a spinoff…
The Flash
|
…Called The Flash! Also based on a DC comic book character, The Flash is a super speedy superhero haunted by the death of his mother. Originally intended as a supporting story within Arrow, the network ordered a whole season of the new series without even seeing any footage!
Reign
Whoever thought royal intrigue could be so fun…or YA. Reign will return to us mightier than ever for its second season, simultaneously calling to mind Game of Thrones, The Other Boleyn Girl and…Gossip Girl! A guilty pleasure historical drama.
The 100
After a slightly unsure beginning, this sci-fi futuristic dystopia is gaining good Ground, as the plots thicken and characters unfold. Last week’s episode was a total turning point for the show as a whole, and we can’t wait for what’s next. So far it looks like this show is far better than the similar but disastrous After Earth.
Beauty and the Beast
We’re still in the middle of Season 2, and we still have more questions than answers in this mysterious and beguiling show, very loosely based on the fairy tale (but will a little of the Hulk thrown in). Who exactly is behind Muirfield and what do they want? Keep watching to find out.
The Originals
As the first season of this Vampire Diaries spinoff came to an suspense-filled close last week, we can’t wait for more. Our favorite character is the dastardly Esther, but we of course always will have a thing for Klaus (when will he notice that the white oak stake is gone??).
The Vampire Diaries
The parent series to The Originals, TVD is one of the most addictive shows on the air right now, and the tons (and tons) of fans prove it. After a literally explosive ending to Season 5, we can’t wait for what’s next.
America’s Next Top Model
Tyra’s back! In fact, she never left. ANTM, going 11 years strong, is the most cringe-worthy, wacky and guiltily decadent reality competition show out there, mainly thanks to the crazy and kooky Ms. Banks.
The Messengers
While it sounds somewhat similar to several recent shows about strangers connected by an unexplained force, this resurrection fable sounds nonetheless intriguing: a handful of strangers ‘die’ after a strange object crashes on Earth, only to come back and discover they are responsible for preventing the Apocalypse.
