SYNOPSIS:
Maia is a teenage piano prodigy and dutiful daughter, imprisoned in the oppressive silence of her adoptive parents’ house like a princess in an ivory tower. WHY SHOULD YOU CHECK IT OUT?
The sequel to All Our Pretty Songs, this one features the story of Cass and Maia, mothers in the original story. It’s also a retelling of the Persephone myth, so we hear. With a dark and eerie Hades as antagonist. It’s always interesting to see characters from one story in another light. Plus, the title seems to come from a Nirvana song (“Polly”)… so that gets points from us!

Eagle-eyed readers will notice the pomegranate dangling on the cover, and get a thrill at the mythological reference. The two protagonists appear to be both trapped and dangerous. Overall, the cover does a great job of drawing us in.
