Ya Revisits Louise Rozett

Louise RozettOftentimes, the media covers a ‘hot-button’ issue for a while—a week, a month, longer—but inevitably, the topic enters the zone of ‘been there, done that’ and we move on to the next trend, disaster, debate or obsession. This happens in pop culture all the time, but also spills over into more hard-boiled issues, like that of bullying. A number of years ago, bullying had everyone’s attention, due to a number of teen suicides that got heavy media coverage.

Around that time, gifted author Louise Rozett published her book Confessions of an Angry Girl, which stood out for a number of wonderful reasons that we discussed in our previous interview with her. Louise said it best here, and it bears repeating:

“…it took me a long time to understand that I was allowed to be angry. I think girls are taught that they are supposed to be nice and accommodating all the time. But that’s a pretty terrible lesson to teach half the world’s population.”

It was a fascinating approach to focus on the female experience with regard to bullying and anger. Then last year, Louise came out with the follow-up Confessions of an Almost-Girlfriend, which continues exploration of these themes and more. At a time when many of these issues are now falling by the wayside, Rozett continues to tell Rose’s story with wit, urgency and a necessary perspective. We can’t wait for Confessions #3!!
